I really hate to be called an Asean and consider it to be insulting. Culturally, religiously, linguistically and racially, people of Indian subcontinent are no way anywhere near to their East Asean neighbours. So why should we expect our part of the world to be regarded as a part of Asea. In fact Indian subcontinent which consists of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka should be regarded as a new continent and we should all be called Indians and not Aseans.
In fact I would like to propose that the international community should recognise Asea as consisting of three continents:
ASEA, INDIA and ARABIA
India is almost like Europe with several linguistic and cultural groups and having almost a dozen scripts. No other continent in the world has got a dozen scripts. So why are we all subgrouped as Aseans? When an ocean can be named after India, why not similar logic apply for the continent too?
I know it doesn't make sense to lump us with the far east asians, but this is merely a geographical denotation, not a racial or cultural one. Europe is filled with a variety of people that are very different from one another. You have Romany gypsys and Finns, Italians and Russians. Same goes with Africa. People in Algeria are very different from the ones in Rwanda.
Anyways, I doubt Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, and Sri Lankans would want to be called "Indians." South Asian, yes, but Indian, no.
indians and Pakistanis belong to the same continent but Indians are largely negroid(blacks) while we, Pakistanis are largely caucasians(whites) although we are close to each other geographically.
No sane Pakistani will propose to have Pakistan called India, so sal35 is Indian.
The thing about black Indians and white Pakistanis isnt really true. They're all mixed up in northern India and Pakistan, but south India has a large population of darker Indians, the top parts are even.
We are asians... asians arent only the yellow race, thats only a stereotypical meaning of asian...asian is anybody from asia.

Ok.. But the mixture is less in Pakistan compared to Northern India- thats why 70-75% Pakistanis look Greek/Italian/Latino while that percentage might be 5-10% for North Indians. Even Pakistani Punjabis are way lighter, taller and more european looking when compared to Punjabi Sikhs or Hindoos.. why is that?
