Sick of it. Dressing like Arabs, speaking Urdu with an Arabic accent. No reason for it at all, no religious requirements. Just an(other) inferiority complex.
Arabs consider us to be lower than pond scum.
This whole charade angers me immensely. Not sure if my anger is truly coming across or not, but believe me, I am pissed.
Re: Arabification of Pakistan and Pakistani culture:
I think the problem is your anger. This is year 2015 and people are free to imitate whatever trend/culture they like and so are you but you chose to be angry. How does this impact you directly? Yes, there is Arabification of Pakistani culture but culture is meant to evolve so let it.
Re: Arabification of Pakistan and Pakistani culture:
You completely missed the point, well done.
Yes culture does evolve but I'm not sure you're aware of exactly what Saudi Arabia (and other Arab countries) are doing in Pakistan and how much they are behind the problems in Karachi and Balochistan.
Emulating their culture, when they think of us as scum, is pathetic.
Re: Arabification of Pakistan and Pakistani culture:
You don't have problem with emulating western culture?
Everyone from Somalia to Lahore to Tokyo is exposed to western culture through western music, western tv shows and now the universal western clothes aka jeans etc or even living in western countries, so overtime if people emulate it, it would make sense.
But when people, without ever having been to any Arab country nor knowing anything about arab customs or arab culture, start wearing arabic dresses or saying aakhi, wallah, yallah after suddenly becoming more Muslim (numerous examples of where I live) its utterly cringing.
Re: Arabification of Pakistan and Pakistani culture:
Western countries have also caused immense turmoil in Pakistan. What are your thoughts on the western culture being emulated and accepted by Pakistanis knowing the fact most western countries patriotically pride in being the top nations and look down on such countries as Pakistan?

What is Western culture?
Wearing jeans? I don't see western culture being emulated en masse in Pakistan.

and look down on such countries as Pakistan?
[/QUOTE]
Should we compare how western countries treat us in their countries compared to, say KSA? For nations who look down on us plenty have given millions of Pakistanis not only citizenships but more freedoms. How many citizenships have Arab countries given us? Their entire cities, Dubai being one, are built on the blood and sweat of abused Pakistanis with zero rights and who work, live and eat worse than slaves do. Recent horrid example is Qatar where thousands have perished building their stadiums. Even now millions of Syrians head down to Europe and not their Arab bhai bhais.

amazing logic. how many of those Pakistanis that try emulate gora have visited West?
culture coming through media is ok, but if it has something to do with religious ties then it is detested.
what is the problem according to you? saving Pakistani culture or just hating arab culture? if you are really honest in saving pakistani culture you must oppose westernization too. but how come, when you yourself live in west.

Who is saying I am supporting it. I said it would make sense, media has been responsible for our attitudes and the way we are influenced for decades now. But firstly...define Westernisation. What is it? So I may know what exactly it is western desis are supporting.
My own family and some friends are extremely religious people, yet none have suddenly adopted arab culture. Why is religion synonymous with arab culture according to you?
Re: Arabification of Pakistan and Pakistani culture:
I'm pretty certain Pakistanis living in Pakistan have not by and large adapted Arab culture (aside from the burqa, perhaps?), however, I do see Pakistanis adopting western culture.
Living abroad, I can see Pakistani's pick up on Arab customs and culture, especially living among Arabs. Likewise, where I live, Arabs are a minority, eat biryani, pakoray, etc. and even learned more Urdu than the Pakistanis that are emulating Arabs. When living far away from the home land the hate and degradation subsides.
Arabs can eat Pakistani food, but Pakistanis cannot eat Arab food. :D

People visit and work in gulf as well. Infact more number of pakistanis are in Gulf countries than in West. So culture influence would make sense same way.
Pakistanis speaking hindi style, following indian and western culture is not issue, but Arabic is.

Its a massive issue. The way some of our public was falling heads over heels for Indian dramas and Bollywood or how our news channel now copy indian style reporting has always been a joke. And you still have not defined what Western culture is. Wearing jeans (which now pretty much everyone in every country does) is not an example. When mini skirts roam our streets or we have pubs on street corners of Lahore and Islamabad then sure you can use that as an example of western culture eroding ours.

just because every country follow western culture does not mean it didnt came from West. And if every country start following arab culture then it will ok for you to follow? as you said western culture is ok because whole world is following that. cannot understand this logic.

Adopting Western Culture has become a norm and necessity all the world. Every institution and trade is globalised, living in the stone ages won't get you too far these days. It's why it's happened all over the world. Besides, there has always been British influence in Pakistan and this continues into the present day in a big way (Aspects of the constitution, Common law as big examples).
In actual fact we would do well by adopting a lot more Western values (honesty, fair rights and treatment for everyone, accountability).
People blame music, films, dating on Western culture. However people have always had affairs, always cheated, raped, murdered. We've always had music, vulgar films, mujras. Following Western culture hasn't brought even 10% of the problems we see in the country today. We have our Arab friends to thank for those, by funding extremist madrassas, training and sending over mad mullahs who spout and spread nothing but hatred against others. This pathetic way of thinking has become deeply ingrained in Pakistani society and is only getting worse.
Tell me then, why exactly are people trying to become more Arab? Like I said before, there isn't a religious requirement. So why are we doing it? Why does even mentioning Saudi Arabia/Arabs in even a slightly negative light evoke such a negative reaction from people?

If every country is following a particular thing then its EVERYBODY's culture, not just one country can claim it. Just like Pizza, Coffee, Burgers. Jeans shirts have been the norm now for decades. In every single country of the world. Claiming that wearing such stuff is 'western' culture is laughable. And if this is your best example of western culture in our country then you've made my point for me.

One thing I dislike immensely is misquoting. Where have I said that?
This is what I DID say:

Re: Arabification of Pakistan and Pakistani culture:
^So you say mini skirt is symbol of western culture? There was a time when mini skirt, gay-ism etc were a big no in western culture but with the passage of time those things became acceptable. Our society on the same path.
Re: Arabification of Pakistan and Pakistani culture:
People in Pak thinks arab muslims are true representative of Islam and hence try to follow them. Their whole premise is that being arabic and knowledge of arabic makes a person better muslim and increase his/her knowledge of Islam. I reject this premise. They are naive fools doing what they are told my mullas who is feeding masses saudi-funded BS

Globalization is perceived as westernization in todays world. To compete with the world, it is better for pakistan to have western values in competition with their local values.
Arabization is Islamization (or shall I say fundamentalist puritan belief). And looking how people are treated in those so called Islamic countries, I would say it is better to remain Paki than to be an arab. Best bet for us is to learn some western values of freedom, tolerance and free speech. Otherwise we would remain stuck in stone age, stoning gays, executing christians, looking down on those who do not fit the dress code etc. That non-sense has no place in todays world
Re: Arabification of Pakistan and Pakistani culture:
Being a resident of Pakistan ( I think i am one of the very few here) all this Arabization is blown out of proportion. This is not a significant trend.
Boys and Girls who have started wearing jeans/T-shirts is far greater than those who start wearing Abaya/Jubba.
People who start using english expressions/words in their speech is far far greater than those who incopoorate Arab words.
May be it is a thing with people who live in western countries - but it is NOT a trend in Pakistan.
I may be speculating here, but all this hoopla is due to combination of following:
Fear of pro-western thinking people that Islamization/Arabization would result in extremism

It appears you dont know about pakistan. No saudi or arab culture is being followed. Show me example if any?
If anything, salfis in pakisan would follow Arab culture but they know culture is not Islam. Even Salfis who are almost a minority, being the great supporter of saudis dont follow their culture. Get some knowledge about Pakistan.
