Arabic and Islam

Re: Arabic and Islam

this is just sad. bibi is paki, what the heck does it means its not muslims. its a word!
arabic is arabic we respect it but we are all different. Allah gave us more than one language, co exist people.
and damn but i like bibi....

Re: Arabic and Islam

Not every Arab is a Muslim. Not every Muslim is an Arab.

Arabs or Arabic do not have monopoly over everything in Islam, so saying a particular word is not a "muslim" word, because its not in Arabic is stupid.

For example "Hari Raya Puasa" is a MUSLIM term, which means 'the festival marking the end of a period of fasting’, in other words, Eid ul Fitr. Just the fact that its in Malaysian language, doesn't mean its not Islamic.

Rest of the argument that every muslim should attempt to learn Arabic, is fine, and is infact a separate discussion.

Re: Arabic and Islam

okay, ppl this thread is back: u can start ur bickering again

The thread has been cleaned up and various people have been reported to the match referee for throwing, …oops i mean to Admin for improper language usage :hehe:

Re: Arabic and Islam

Muslims who do not understand arabic are not muslims.....

Bibi is by the way more of a Farsi term of endearment.....hence used by muslims of South Asia as well....

Re: Arabic and Islam

A better opening statement would have been Bibi is not an arabic term. I guess the thread wouldn;t have gotten this far but...

Re: Arabic and Islam

I agree. "Bibi is not an Arabic term" would have been a 2 post thread.

Re: Arabic and Islam

Everyone is ready to learn English, wear western attire and adjust to western norms in order to assimilate in the west. When it comes to arab culture - which arguably is more Islamic than any other culture in the world - everyone seems to have issues. It's all a matter of your mindset really.

Re: Arabic and Islam

I don't think so. The most Islamic culture so far would be of the Pashtuns between Afghanistan and Pakistan where the most hardcore of Arabs are taking refuge including Osama and his mama. In these areas you would rarely find a person with out a beard or head covering. In some of the towns and villages if you don't have a beard or head covering you get your a$$ whooped, or they deny entry. Even the Arabs have adopted the local culture instead of promoting their own, that's how strong it is. Most of them have forgotten arab and are fluent Pashto speakers. Amongst them are Chechens, Uzbeks, Turks, Tajiks and many more.

In Arab countries beards are rarely fallowed, so called SUNNAH. The head covering there is out of culture rather religion. Arabs in Arab countries don't give two shyt about Islam, it is more about Arabism.

Re: Arabic and Islam

Really not true. Depends on where you are. I have seen Pakistanis who live in US, adopt western dress codes, language and mannerism. I have also seen Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia who wear *taubs *and the head-gear and start speaking some Arabic within a very short time. Its all part of ‘Live in Rome, Like Romans do’ where people try to assimilate where ever they are to carry on with their lives.

To expect a Pakistani or a Malaysian or an Indonesian who is living in UK or Holland to wear Arabic *taub *and head-gear is unrealistic. Not to mention that Islam never forces people to give up their dress codes or adopt a particular dress code to become a better muslim. In Islam, we have directions on *satr *and as long as we follow them, Allah is Rehmaan and Raheem.

Aub mein apnay munh say kya kahoun. Just rein in the Racism a bit.

Re: Arabic and Islam

Agreed,

However, Muslims are ones that have been specifically told not to do in Rome as the Romans do…In fact, the Muslims are basically meant to stick out in any society…

A Muslim does not dress on the beach like the westerners, or Romans in this case…

By some measure, you can actually tell a Muslim guy from a distance…

Re: Arabic and Islam

So the beard is not a sunnah then…
