This shows how much you know. First off pakis do the same thing. I have never heard of this word rafik being used, so I dont no where the hell you picked it from. I’m a Arab I’m marrying a non arab, a Kashmiri. Well duded that only happens in Saudi and the gulf nations. So wake up, they dont let other arabs have citizen status or own property either so dont cry ok???
Next time try to get to it in a WHOLE, rather than looking at it through one eye.
on the topic.. I agree with logo. those who say that we're at a loss because we dont read translations are mistaken if they think arabs in general read the Quran either. they're also mistaken if they think that the sophisticated intricacies of the language that are potentially lost in translation are accessible to joe arab. theres multiple translations out there in any given language, often done by excellent native speakers of the language. the average arab, or even a highly educated arab would probably arrive at the same meanings, thats if hes lucky.
about Majestic's contention that the word bibi is not Muslim because its not arabic, thats simply illogical, unless we assume that nothing is Muslim unless its also arabian. and so if you consider Pakistan a Muslim country, Pakistani culture a Muslim culture, then Urdu/Pashtu would be a predominantly Muslim language.
i think the problem here might be due to “islamic” and “muslim” being used interchangeably. i would say “islamic” words are the ones in the Quran and Hadith, that means they’re arabic but of course that doesn’t mean that all arabic words are islamic. “muslim” words are what the majority of muslims use regardless of their nationality thus they are in a variety of languages. For example, Allah Hafiz or Khuda Hafiz are muslim terms because they are used by Muslims (pakistanis and iranis) in their respective languages, while is “islamic”.
God/Allah/Yahweh made a terrible mistake using Arabic for communicating with man. He/She should have used a refined langugae like Farsi, Latin or Francais. Heck, Sanskirt isn't so bad either.
Arabs have always used the Quran/Islam for their own agenda and monopoly. For example the quote from the Quran that the Quran is in Arabic so you can understand it. Now it makes you wonder that how did God forget that the rest of the world doesn’t speak Arabic. But unless you leave this passage and statement for the time it was reveled in, and for the people, then it makes perfect sense. A lot that is in Quran was meant for that period, many of those passages which are used by jihadies even today to justify their hate towards Jews and others, taking things out of context.
I disagree, what is the big difference between Islamic and Muslim? Those who believe in Islam are Muslims; therefore whatever is Muslim is Islamic. Anything halal is Islamic, anything that is haram is not, whether it is Arabic or Indian or Chinese.
Islam defines Muslims, and Muslims define Islam. Of course, by Muslim I mean those who fallow Islam correctly according to the 4 main fiqs and the teachings of the Quran.
What is the big difference between Islamic and Muslim? A Muslim is a PERSON who submits to God and follows Islam and he/she can be any nationality. “Islamic” is an adjective to describe THINGS/ACTIONS/RULINGS therefore it has no nationality because Islam is a religion for all of mankind.
