1983-->india, 1992-->pakistan, 1996-->sri lanka, 1999-->pakistan, 2003-->india, 2007-->sri lanka
Re: April 24, 1st Semi Final - New Zealand v Sri Lanka at Sabina Park, Jamaica
Stephen Fleming stepped down as captain of New Zealand’s one-day side following their crushing World Cup semi-final defeat by Sri Lanka in Jamaica.

Australia ain't winning sh*t if they come across this Sri Lankan bowling attack with a good score on the board. I just hope one of either Jayasuriya or Sangakkara are able to score big in the final.

Absolutely. Sri Lanka score 270 if they bat first, Sri Lanka win the World Cup. I can bet my chaddis on that, I'm that sure :o . They haven't really chased too often in this tournament, and thus I won't comment on their chasing abilities against a side like Australia. But one thing I know for sure is that Sri Lanka have the best bowling attack in the World Cup and can pull anything off.

As I said (please guys, brush up on your reading skills), if Lanka has a reasonable total on the board, Lanka will defend it. I am not saying that they will necessarily win the match because I do realize how dangerous the Aussies are.
Re: April 24, 1st Semi Final - New Zealand v Sri Lanka at Sabina Park, Jamaica
thats bs^
say they will win with full confidence not with 'conditions'
no ifs and buts
Re: April 24, 1st Semi Final - New Zealand v Sri Lanka at Sabina Park, Jamaica
What if Saffies are suddenly overcome with Sharm and Ghairat ![]()
and beat the crap out of the aussies in the semis ![]()
No one is even talking about that probability ![]()
If it happens
then all the above mentioned blah blah will come back to haunt you all ![]()
Re: April 24, 1st Semi Final - New Zealand v Sri Lanka at Sabina Park, Jamaica
Saffies will choke in the final ![]()

When I talk about "conditions", I am talking about the strength of their bowling attack and how it can defend even a mediocre total. Their batting still seems a bit iffy to me, and I don't know how well it will be able to chase down a target set by the Aussies. Please brush up on your reading skills, fellas.
Re: April 24, 1st Semi Final - New Zealand v Sri Lanka at Sabina Park, Jamaica
so you are predicting a SA / SL final

Sri Lanka is going down...
Australian batsmen didnt face Sri Lankan bowlers but neither did Sri Lankan bowlers face Australian batsmen
Sri Lanka bowlers faced top class batsmen of South Africa and still lost
And South Africa lost to Australia
so, Australia is going to win

I wish A>B>C always translated into A>C in cricket but fortunately life isn't that predictable and it's been never like that in any sport. SA won by just one wicket against SLA and almost completely lost it against Malinga towards the end of their innings. Australia are a cut above the rest but they are by no means unbeatable. That said you have to do blo**y well in all three departments to beat them on a given day. This SLA side is better than SA IMHO.
Re: April 24, 1st Semi Final - New Zealand v Sri Lanka at Sabina Park, Jamaica
Now the three main sub-continental teams have all reached the WC Finals twice
India: 1983 (W) & 2003 (L)
Pakistan: 1992 (W) & 1999 (L) &
Sri Lanka: 1996 (W) & 2007
SLA could go one better by beating whoever they are pitted against in the Final.

All I know is that you wanted Sri Lanka to lose because their players were "ugly"; shows the credibility you have on these forums mere bhai :o .
