Re: Application of Sunnat in household affairs
On entering a market / shopping centre recite the following words:
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٍ
Laa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu Laa shareeka lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu yuhyee wa yumeetu wa huwa hayyul Laa yamootu, biyadihil khayr wa huwa alaa kulli shay'in qadeer
Re: Application of Sunnat in household affairs
Rasulalah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) used to have honey water for breakfast. He is also reported to have had “Nabize Tamar” in some narrations. Nabize Tamar is dried dates which have been cut into pieces and soaked in a clay container overnight.(Tirmidhi)

Re: Application of Sunnat in household affairs
Using vinegar
eating olives
taking a nap after afternoon meal
Do not be completely silent while having meal
do not criticize the food you are eating.
Not disclosing bad dreams to anyone
telling good dreams to ones who are close to you
Re: Application of Sunnat in household affairs
Drinking water before and during your meal, but waiting a while before drinking anything after you’ve finished eating.
Only found out about this sunnah recently and I realised I always drank my water right after eating, so consciously trying to break the habit!
Re: Application of Sunnat in household affairs
Doing Zikar while cooking or doing other household chores. When Fatima RA went to ask for servant Nabi SAW said that servants are all for Ashab e Suffa, i give you better than servant and said that recite SubhanALlah, Alhamdulillah 7 Allah hu akbar. 33,33 & 34 times respectively at night.
Reciting masnoon duas at every ocassion
Sharing the plate while having meal
Eat the remains of roti or rice from Dastarkhwaan
Sleep on the right side. Recite Surah Mulk and ALM Sajda before sleeping
Smile is also sunnah
Waking up till ishraaf time after fajar is a great sunnah of Nabi saw.
A few questions-
Which of these have religious significance and which don’t but are recommended as good lifestyle practices?
What items are supposed to be symbolic than specific? Eg colour of clothing, precious metals, .. Red and gold. Is orange and platinum okay? How about neon pink and a 20K watch?
What is purely cultural? Clothing? Food choice? Facial hair?
Don’t mean to derail the threa I split this off if needed but thought it would be good to know. Sources will be great also.
Re: Application of Sunnat in household affairs
