APC on terrorism

Re: APC on terrorism

The issue is that taleban could use this time to regroup. They want their compatriots to be released, army to withdraw from FATA and shariah be installed there. Where as they will keep their weapons (to intimidate people?). So what would be the impact of agreeing on their terms?

Re: APC on terrorism

^ more destruction and chaos.

Re: APC on terrorism

Welcome to Tamashaistan !

Re: APC on terrorism

They have to give up arms as well as surrender all the ammo they currently possess being used in bomb making otherwise this is nothing less than a victory for TTP.

Re: APC on terrorism

They want 6 0r 7 things done before they come to the table, and not even one demand something like no killings till the talks r over from Govt. side.

Re: APC on terrorism

PMLN is the largest party
PTI is the second biggest party

both are on wrong side of the history on terrorism issue and time will show that.

Nawaz is afraid of talibans with no will to take them down but IK is the biggest culprit who continuously keeps showing soft corner for ZALIMANS.. his whole thesis of "get out of usa war to weaken taliban's narrative" is plain idiocy. what is he thinking? zalimans will throw weapons and become school teachers?

APC is plain bul**** with no framework

lets wait and see what comes out of it

Re: APC on terrorism

I hope the government would oblige to create a conducive atmosphere for talks with taleban. Even if the government does not release them it will take around 10 jail breaks.

Pakistani Taliban make demands ahead of peace talks - DAWN.COM

**PESHAWAR: The Pakistani Taliban demanded Sunday that the government release militant prisoners and begin withdrawing troops from the group’s tribal sanctuary before they will participate in peace talks, raising doubts about prospects for negotiations.
**
**The Taliban’s leadership council decided on the need for confidence building measures while meeting to discuss the government’s offer to hold peace talks, said the group’s spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid.
**
Pakistan’s major political parties endorsed peace talks with the Taliban last week as the best way to end a decade-long insurgency that has killed thousands of people.

However, it’s unclear what steps the government is willing to take to convince the militants to sit down at the negotiating table.

It’s also unclear what would be acceptable to the army, which has lost thousands of soldiers fighting the Taliban and is considered the strongest institution in the country.

**‘‘The Taliban have been deceived in the past in the name of peace, so the government will have to take some steps before the start of talks to assure the Taliban that the government is serious about the peace process,’’ Shahid said by telephone from an undisclosed location.
**
**The government must release Pakistani Taliban militants it is holding prisoner and show that it is withdrawing soldiers from the tribal region along the border with Afghanistan, said Shahid.
**
**‘‘If the government does not take these two steps, the peace process cannot go forward,’’ said Shahid.
**
Intelligence officials and militant commanders said the Taliban and the army exchanged a small number of prisoners last week as a confidence building measure ahead of talks, but the army denied the swap.

The army has carried out scores of operations against the Taliban in the tribal region, but the militants have proven resilient and continue to carry out regular attacks.

A roadside bomb killed one soldier and wounded another Sunday in the tribal region of North Waziristan, the main sanctuary for Taliban and Al Qaeda militants in the country, said military officials, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with military policy.

On Saturday night, militants ambushed a group of tribal policemen riding in a vehicle near the northwest town of Bannu, killing two of them and wounding four others, the officials said. No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Many observers are skeptical about peace talks with the Taliban since prior agreements with the militants have fallen apart. Critics say the deals simply gave the militants time to regroup and continue their fight against the state.

It’s also unclear what room for compromise the Taliban and the government would find if they did sit down to negotiate. The militants have earlier criticized Pakistan’s democratic system, demanded the imposition of Islamic law and stipulated the government must break off its alliance with the United States.

Even if the two sides could come to an agreement, it is unclear how well the Taliban could enforce it on their side. There are dozens of militant groups based in the tribal region with varying degrees of allegiance to the Taliban.

The US is wary of a peace deal because it could give Afghan Taliban militants greater space to conduct cross-border attacks against US-led troops in Afghanistan.

However, it could be hard for the US to push back against negotiations since it wants Pakistan’s help in striking a peace deal with the Afghan Taliban.
The Afghan and Pakistani Taliban are allies but have focused on different targets. The Afghan Taliban have fought coalition troops in Afghanistan, while the Pakistani Taliban have largely focused on battling the Pakistani state.

The Pakistani Taliban indicated they were open to holding peace talks at the end of last year but withdrew that offer in May after the group’s deputy leader was killed in a US drone strike.

Despite the Taliban’s reluctance, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has continued to push for negotiations since he took office in June.

The APC

Re: APC on terrorism

Its about time the government of Pakistan cancel peace talks with TTP and order full fledged operations against them. They should expose all the elements who have sympathies with the terrorists.

Re: APC on terrorism

I have been saying that this Nawaz guy is a security threat to Pakistan due to his soft corner for Taliban. Unfortunately he got an ally in another simpleton leader, Imran Khan. Even more unfortunate that both are in the government.
These negotiations are going to prove that Pakistan has succumbed in front of terrorism.

This was our war. Always has been. And these two Taliban supporters are going to make sure that Taliban win this war against Pakistani people.

These mufsideen want their prisoners released BEFORE the talks could begin. What more could be the proof that Pakistan has surrendered in front of terrorism?

Re: APC on terrorism

Should PM resign on his stupidity of releasing ‘Maut ke Saudagar’? This is how these killers respond to any liniency and peace talk. Another joker Imran Khan also wanted army to go from KP so that these ‘Maut ke Saudgar’ should take over KP.

PM condoles, TTP claims responsibility for killing of a Major General in KP - DAWN.COM

PESHAWAR: A roadside bomb attack on Sunday killed Pakistan’s two senior military officers and a soldier in the country’s troubled northwest, the military said.

The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have accepted responsibility for the attack, which was confirmed by TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid in a statement.

Major General Sanaullah Niazi and Lieutenant Colonel Touseef were visiting troop posts in the Upper Dir district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, along the Afghan border, when their vehicle hit a planted bomb killing them along with a soldier.

“Maj Gen Sanaullah and Lt Col Touseef embraced Shahadat (martyrdom) this morning. They were returning after visiting troops posts on Pak Afghan Border,” the military said in a statement, adding that the incident resulted from an IED planted on the road near the border.

“Sepoy Imran also embraced Shahadat (martyrdom), two soldiers injured in the blast have been evacuated,” it added.

“Pakistan army has made substantial sacrifices to protect the nation against the menace of terrorism and such cowardly acts by terrorists cannot deter the morale of our armed forces,” Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said in a statement.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had announced on Saturday that withdrawal of troops from Malakand division would begin next month and the civil administration would take over control of the area.

The announcement came at a time when the federal government is preparing to launch peace talks with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the light of decisions of an all-party conference.

Separately, two roadside bomb attacks in Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan tribal district bordering Afghanistan, killed two soldiers on Sunday and wounded four others, security officials said.

In the neighbouring district of Bannu, Taliban militants ambushed a convoy of tribal police early Sunday, killing two of them and wounding four others, the officials said.

Pakistan says more than 40,000 people have been killed as a result of bomb and suicide attacks carried out by Taliban and Al-Qaeda-led militants who oppose Islamabad’s US alliance.

Re: APC on terrorism

I think IK and NS are ready to bend-over and hand them the arrested terrorists. Government must put its own condition of surrender before peace negotiations, they already killed Maj Gen of army, government now must demand surrender of those who planned the attack otherwise all parties must take this as breach of trust and eliminate them completely.

Re: APC on terrorism

Its about time consensus to be developed against all traitors of the country including LEJ, JEM, TTP and all other groups and indiscriminate operations be carried out against them throughout the country (including Punjab). The government should dictate the terms and not ragtag militias.
