Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

Please explain these lines or translate the bold words from Kabir Das poem.

“Maati Kahe Kumhar Se”

Maati Kahe Kumhar Se, Tu Kya Rundhe Mohe
Ek Din Aisa Ayega Main Rundhungi Tohe…

Aaye Hai So Jayenge Raaja Rank Fakir
Ek Sinhaasan Chadh Chale Ek Bandhe Janjir
Durbal Ko Naa Satayiye Jaaki Maati Hoye
Bina Jeev K Shwas So Loha Basam Ho Jaye…

Chalti Chakki Dekh K Diya Kabira Roye
Do Patan Ke Bich Me Sabut Bacha Naa Koi
Dukh Me Simaran Sab Kare Sukh Me Kare Naa Koi
Jo Dukh Me Simaran Kare To Dukh Kahe Ko Hoye…

Patta Tuta Dal Se Le Gayi Pawan Udaye
Ab Ke Bichade Kab Milenge Door Padenge Jaye
Kabir Aap Thagiye Or Na Thagiye Koi
Aap Thage Sukh Upaje Aur Thage Dukh Hoye

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

rank=gharib
sihansaan=takht
simran=smaran=zikar=rememberance
Janjir=zanjeer=chains
Durbal=kamzor
satayiye=satana like asif ko mat satayiye
jaaki=jiski

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

Thanks ninja. Now the words don't clarify some lines. please explain these lines.

Ek Sinhaasan Chadh Chale Ek Bandhe **Janjir

Bina Jeev K **Shwas So Loha Basam Ho Jaye...

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

Ek sihaansan/takht par baitha hai dusra zanjeer me bandha hai sab ko ek din mar jana hai...

for second line we have to wait for KKF or The Kaur....:(

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

I can do most of these :) I dont know whats "Rank" though...You might have to fit the word in an appropriate verb though.

1) Sinhaasan = Throne
2) Janjir = Chains
3) Durbal = Weak
4) Satayiye = Trouble
5) Jaaki **= So that (I am a little unsure abt this)
6) **Shwas
= To Breathe
7) Simaran = Memory
8) Upaje = To grow

Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

Janjir=payal/paazeb/ankle bracelet

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

but here janjir=zanjeer will mean shackles

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

Is it Jhanjhar or variation of Zanjeer (janjeer as there is no Z sound in Hindi probably)

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

rank=gharib...poor person...

rank is pronounced like bichhu ka dank

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

like shank mandir main baaje... BTW how does shank looks like?

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

If I am not wrong, the second line means : The animal that does not breathe (carcass) will still be used (by the lohar) to make heat for the iron and the carcass will turn into ashes.

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

Yahi shankh hai

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

This is a Shank/Conch

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

that makes a sense, but when we read complete shair, its still confusing.

Durbal Ko Naa Satayiye Jaaki Maati Hoye
Bina Jeev K Shwas So Loha Basam Ho Jaye...

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

:omg: is it the same instrument played by Bengalis in their marriage. I remember Paaro ki Maa playing this in Devdas

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

any particular reason for adapting this instrument in Mandirs? Is it related some devta like bansri is related to Krishna?

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

clay says to the potter , who are you to knead me.
there will be a day when i will knead you.

Note: it refers to the day when the potter will be dead and would be buried in ground.

Everyone who is born will die some day, bet it a king or a poor man.
one goes on a throne and another one goes with chains on its body.

Dont harrass the weak, there is a lot of power in curses.
just like a lifeless dhokni ( a hollow cylendrical tube used to blow air in furnace to make it hotter) can melt a strong thing like iron.

Note: shwas= saans=breath.
jeev= jivan= life
jaaki = jiski
Moti ( not maati) = big
Haye or hai (not hoye) = curse/baddua
hence, jaaki moti haye = jiski badi baddua

chalti chakki is pretty easy.

Everyone remembers god in dukh or bad times, no one remembers god in good times.
if you remember god in good times, then why would you have bad times.

note: simran = rememberence

patta tuta is easy...

oh kabir, neither thug/con some one or get conned by sone one ,
if you con someone then you get happy but someone else con you then you get sad.

note: upaje= to grow. just like crops grow.

hope it helps. kabir is loved by everyone. i am a big fan since childhood. kabir, rahimdas, tulsidas and amir khusro pioneered the art of dohe and brought upon a social change

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

may be it is due to cultural thing. this may be the only instrument that made sound naturally which goes to far distances.
shankhs were also used to draw attention of people and to indicate the begaining of things like wars etc.

modern explaination is that vibrations produced by shankh sound kills viruses and bactrieas

Re: Anyone knows Shudh Hindi?

Shank has always been considered to be an auspicious instrument in Hinduism. From what I understand it brings out of prayers deep from your heart. The significance for this comes from the fact that Shanks are obtained from deep seas and also the air that you blow into it requires a very good respiratory capacity and capability. A combination of the earnest prayers of the devotees and combined with the sound of a Shank, all the evil spirits are driven away.
