This was the issue. I should have explained better.
And about the actually being a refugee issue? Yes, to me it was a big deal. I was talking to the guy throughout the rishta process, and when it came out about them being refugees, he started to get defensive saying things like not everyone is as lucky as you to be born in a western country. And when I asked him why they claimed refugee status (like what was the issue?), he said that his fathers brothers wanted to kill them (him and his brothers) because his dad was the oldest and had all the family property in his name. Umm…I really dont think that qualifies as a true reason to pick up and come all the way to America and claim refugee status. Based on his story, it just sounded like they all wanted an easy route to USA.
If it had been a legitimate reason to claim refugee status, I may have given him a second chance, and overlooked the lying.
