DOUBLE POST
I've played Dragon Quest VIII and I loved that. However that's on PS2 and not DS. For DS RPGs you could try some Final Fantasy games. If you have a DS model before DSi, then you can also play GBA games on it. I personally love Phantasy Star, which you could play as part of Phantasy Star Collection. On DS, I myself am trying to track down a copy of Chrono Trigger (locally before I go to ebay). Others that I'm looking forward to try are Soma Bringer and The World Ends with You.
Thanks for the recommendations. Toys R US (USA) has chrono trigger (just checked online today) and Gamestop also has it in stock as well as amazon.com (if you can import video games from USA).
I started Dragon Quest V and am loving it so far :D I have the DS Lite, so I'll get Phantasy Star. I've also read awesome reviews on "the world ends with you" on amazon, will probably try that too :d Thanks again.
Yup, try Chrono Trigger, it's a classic. If you don't like it, you probably won't be a fan of RPGs.
Esix's fav is Golden Sun (GBA), it's not that great imo but an easy game for a beginner.
FFVI (another GBA version) Zelda: A Link to the Past (GBA again)
Thanks stoppit for the recommendations. By the way, love your avatar... LOL

Unfortunately amazon.com doesn't deliver games here in Canada. So I'm stuck with amazon.ca for that.
When shopping for the Phantasy Star I'm recommending, remember that it's part of Phantasy Star Collection on GBA and is different from Phantay Star 0, which is a DS game. Also, it's a 21 year old game now but I still love it.
I will try to get Chrono Trigger myself this week inshAllah. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find The World Ends with You at local retailers here, so I'll try looking for it online.
Re: Any RPG fans?
emulator FS dude ![]()
Isn't making that kind of suggestion against the forum rules since it implies piracy? Bad moderator :p
Re: Any RPG fans?
well the emulator themselves are legal :p
its the roms which are illegal :D
which can also be legal if 1 owns the game :)
The ROMs would be illegal as far as I know. If I did own the games, I wouldn't need an emulator to play them.
Re: Any RPG fans?
well dunno for sure
but in most of the sites they say u have to own the game to keep the rom for more then 24 hours something like that
and roms/emu on the PC would have some other features the consoles dont like filters, save state, for recording video purposes etc etc
Well either way in my case I would have to buy the game anyway for it to be legal.
Re: Any RPG fans?
lolz yea thats true though.
have any of u guyz played
oblivian?
Re: Any RPG fans?
yes, twice. i don't know why though, i think i like to punish myself with games that aren't really worth all the time or effort.
morrowind however, that was a good game. i think if they re-made it with better graphics and changed the difficulty curve it would be what oblivion should have been.
also, in the case of Chrono Trigger it was the emulation that gave it a cult status in the west and eventually got it released on the DS over here. if gamers didn't emulate, they would never have got to play it.
Re: Any RPG fans?
nice
so are there any japanese rpg's for pc?
I have not tried Oblivion yet. How is it? I played Morrowind a long time ago when they released it for XBox. I didn't get very far with it though.
Re: Any RPG fans?
its bascially the same as morrowind
i havent played alot of it just a little bit
stoppit has beat it twice so ask stoppit :@:
Re: Any RPG fans?
Everyone loves Oblivion, it's a huge gameworld and there is a lot to do. The main storyline is poor though, I only came to it after doing virtually all the side quests as they are a lot more entertaining. Difficulty wise though it doesn't pose a challenge. The levelling system is ridiculously done. But it's still a fun game and you'd get a lot of play time out of it, although in my case I wonder if it was worth it. The best part is joining all the guilds and doing all their quests to eventually lead the guilds.
I didn't get very far with Morrowind the first few times either, it's the polar opposite to Oblivion. They just dump you in the gameworld with very little direction or assistance and it's very frustrating that you can't even kill the rats. BUT if you know how you handle the beginning of the game and learn how it works there is a huge amount in it. I very much preferred it to Oblivion. Oblivion gives the impression of non-linearity whereas Morrowind actually puts this into practice. Even when you are a hardcore fighter-mage, you will come across things that will really challenge you. Even though the graphics were muddy, all in all it was a lot more immersive.
Bethesda learnt their mistakes from Morrowind but unfortunately went too much in the other direction with Oblivion, loosing a lot of what made it great in the first place.
Re: Any RPG fans?
^lolz nice explaination
i only got upto the part where all the demons get loose from the gate thingy
and i stopped :D
Re: Any RPG fans?
^dude. play it again. forget the gates! join some guilds and seek out side quests. you'll enjoy it.
