Re: any Muslim singles
Urdu is not my native language, so maybe I shouldn't comment, but I have a thought about this "larka" bit. For some reason, "larka" strikes me as quite adolescente and conjures up the image of a really young guy, like in his late teens. It's always struck me as odd when Pakistani ladies refer to their adult sons, often in their mid to late twenties, as "larka."

Re: any Muslim singles
I hope so because he really is one of a kind. Thanks. :) Yeh. Then I may never marry. I know that if someone like me exists, then God has created someone else just like me too.
A bit of both. Yeh, our parents dont understand that we cant stay single from birth till we're like 30. All the people I know my age, have had someone or some are married. Not in a hurry for marriage, but id like someone to share my sorrows with, the pain that my parents will never understand. My parents arent social and they won't let me be social. And now I just feel awkward around a huge crowd. Aww so what u gonna do? Will u go ahead and marry him still? Like in the future? I hope so too and thanks. In Sha Allah. :) And wish u all the best too.
Yeah, I think I am. I have my mom and siblings on my side, thank God so I'm just going to have to stand up for what I want. Sucks, because I obviously want my dad involved and happy but I don't think it's fair to me or my BF to just end it because my dad doesn't ever want me to get married.
I know it's hard to talk to big groups of people, especially with guys included, if you haven't done that but practice makes perfect. :P Do you work? Surely , you interact with people there? Or if you're in college, there should be a Muslim Student Union or something similar. Get more active in the community in those ways. =)

sorry Mezghan we should probably translate. Not that fluent in it myself and I would not say it's my native language. I guess it's a way to preserve youth. If their son is an adolescent boy they then too by association are young.
apparently larka also means a white she wolf with golden eyes.

I understand that youth is seen as desirable but there is youth as in "in the prime of your life" youth and youth as in "still a child" youth. In my opinion, "larka" had the latter connotation.
I would also find it a bit strange if a lady was referring to her son as "larka" when talking about him to potential prospects because it would not be very flattering as most women wouldn't want to marry an adolescent boy. :D

in rishta process, laRkaa means groom and laRke waale means groom's family.
here laRkaa doesn't mean an adolescent/youth. :)
same goes for laRkii and laRkii waale [bride and bride's family]

Ah I see. Interesting point. It's just so commonly used in popular culture and songs that people don't think twice.
What is the afghani or pashto equivalent? I'm interested in languages of the subcontinent.
