any experience recently applying for Indian VISA?

Does anyone have any Experience(S) applying for an Indian Visa with Pakistani Origin RECENTLY? Especially after the whole Headly thing? I am a U.S. citizen born in Karachi married to an INDIAN CITIZEN, applied recently in New York through Travisa - however, after just 5 weeks they returned my passport back saying “VISA NOT ISSUED” Upon contacting Travisa - you can only contact them as you can’t contact the indian consulate directly they said that they haven’t rejected my visa and that it is still under ‘review’ - just that they were giving back my passport? THis worries me as why would they give back my passport without stamping it? I applied 2wice before and got the visa both times and they never gave back the passport without any decision?

Re: any experience recently applying for Indian VISA?

u lucky there is no rejection stamp,if you have an american passport, than i would suggest that you go back to america and apply your visa from there, but if you going around with a pakistani passport you should not bother to apply for an indian visa it will be rejected ,the indian national you married if he has an indian passport than he has to marry you in his country of origin than you will get an automatic clearance of residency.but since you making a khichroo out of your passport im sorry to say you cant have access to every country with a pakistan passport even if you have the ness. visa endosements.please descide the country passport holder you wanna be.if u have any other que.pls be free to ask me,ready to assist ques.

I am exactly in the same situation. Pakistani born US citizen, married to an Indian citizen, applied for Indian Visa through Travis in December. Its still under review ..

They sent me my passport back saying that we will ask for it back when all the paper work is done cause they need the passport just for stamping.

welcome to the club :D

For Pakistani born USA citizen, even in USA, they dont allow you to apply as a US citizen. You have to send your Pakistani Passport in

Re: any experience recently applying for Indian VISA?

im sorry to hear this but if you going around with a pakistani passport you will not be treated with any special attention,i will only suggest that if you were born in pakistan your passport will reflect on it,and thats enough to slow your travels down...good luck really i do feel for you because i have seen 3rd degree approach to the handling of pakistan passport holders...

What if you no longer have a (valid) pakistani passport?

thats sad :hinna:

Re: any experience recently applying for Indian VISA?

lol pakistani born american nationals married to indian nationals,na teen mai naa tayrah mai.

When where your dates of travel? I'm hoping they will give the visa at the last minute (at least that's what they did before). I'm scheduled to go in July for husband's family wedding. We sent the invitations and everything. One more question - did you send your pakistani passport for the visa (saw from your other post) I heard they make you send your pakistani passport and stamp the visa on there instead of the american one. I don't have a pakistani passport however - haven't had one since i was 14-15 years old- they stamped only the american one.

We did marry in the 'country of origin'...we actually married in India...but this is the first i've heard of an 'automatic clearance'? I did apply in america (NY) but I've actually heard it's easier if you apply from countries such as pakistan or from the middle east ....and I actually don't have a pakistani passport at all...only an american passport.

Re: any experience recently applying for Indian VISA?

so if u have an american passport than apply to the indian embassy an tell them that you are married to an indian citzen, and produce your marraige certificate and ask them the ness.doc they require, sorry to say you guys do everything too late be professional in life if you married to an indian citizen so he can get his documentation in order . than make plans to find out where you stand. a lawyer will do u some good. good luck missy

Re: any experience recently applying for Indian VISA?

Re: any experience recently applying for Indian VISA?

My khala (pakistani passport holder) married to an Indian goes to India every 2 yrs.She gets a visa at times in 2-3 months & at times within a few weeks. She has never had any prob with that.

Re: any experience recently applying for Indian VISA?

^ :D

Since the topic is open, I'll provide the information I have, given we just went through this and that too unsuccessfully.

In order for someone of Pakistani origin (a dual passport holder) or a Pakistani to apply for a visa, you need to get relative/friend/host from India to sign a sponsorship form, vouching for you. Once the completed visa application is submitted, the Consulate may take 3 months (it could be more, it could be less) and there's no assurance that you will get a visa.

If you are a dual passport holder and are willing to surrender your Pakistani passport and renounce Pakistani citizenship, you don't need the sponsorship certificate, but you will need to provide a letter to the Indian consulate declaring that you've returned your Pakistani passport and a notarized certificate showing that you've renounced Pakistani citizenship. Even in this case they say it could take 3 months or more to be issued a visa.

A friend of mine who went to India for work purposes about 2 years ago (he's of Pakistani origin) - he was given a single entry visa and was restricted to one city - which seems a bit pointless if you want to travel and sight-see. Unfortunately, the Indian consulate makes you jump through hoops for a visa that has limited use.

:smack: I just saw the date. Its such an old thread :bummer:

Re: any experience recently applying for Indian VISA?

yep…khala n mum n all are restricted to 2 places (where we land & where we stay). And the officials cone and check if you traveled elsewhere :bummer:

Re: any experience recently applying for Indian VISA?

^ I don't have a Pakistani passport and when I went 3 years ago, I was able to travel throughout India. I was told they've made things more difficult since then.

I have a friend whose cousin is Indian-born, but married a Pakistani and residing in Canada - the Indian-born girl had difficulty getting a visa to visit her dying father. It took upwards of 8 weeks. That to me was the height of ridiculous!

Re: any experience recently applying for Indian VISA?

Mum & khalas are pakistani passport holders so they cant travel anywhere they want :(

This girl you are talking abt,is she an Indian passport holder ?
