Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Hi All,
I’m new to this forum… but love how u get soo much information.
I dont know much about Gul. My sister lives in the UK. I’ve been so many times to UK, there are a few pakistani clothes shop..
and very less pakistani bridal ones.
There’s one shop i have heard abt in Manchester, it calls Burooj. they have also a website www.burooj.co.uk the website is still under reconstruction. They have some pakistani styles. I have never been there. A relative of my sis got married and she made her stuff from burooj. I saw some pictures, which was quite nice.. Maybe u can have a look.
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Dunno about Burooj but i know abut Gul's Style cos it's like, 30 seconds away from where I live! They have beautiful designs and outfits, but their stuff is very very expensive (in my opinion anyway), and I don't think its worth what they ask. Also, I find their customer service skills a bit...rude. They'll only be nice and pay attention to you if they think you'll buy something, otherwise they won't give you the time of the day.
Aaliyah what videos did he take of you??
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Oops, just realised I already posted about them on the first page :(
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
This guy added me on fb the other day. weird.
All his bridals seem to b over 3k.!
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Hi all
i live near Ilford lane too and totally agree that guls is disgustingly overpriced- although I loove going in to have a look at the stuff, to be fair his pieces are amazing! But yes he himself is not approachable his daughters however (hijabis behind till) are lovely
I tend to buy clothes from Pakistan but you can get really nice stuff from gul mohar on woodlands road, beejees, reshma and ranis!
Nice to know that there's fellow Ilford ppl on this forum :-)
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Heh heh Ilford unite!
I bought a suit from Ramsha last year and it has lasted me very well, it's very classic in terms of design but I found their prices a bit high. I've always preferred Gul Mohar to be honest, their stuff is more wearable and affordable, not cheap but at least you know the prices are a bit more reasonable.
I love Beejees too! The guy in there always gives me a discount :D
Have you been to Imanis (the designer clothers one not the other one) at all?
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Imanis no.. Completely agree about gul mohar they're def no cheap but really nice
Ramsha is a good shop too n the guy in beejees is lovely- he knows how to get ppl to come back
Aparantly hsy and other designers have/are opening on Ilford lane- exciting!
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Wow, there's a lot of designers opening up there.
Imani is the new shop with HSY/Karma/Maaria B/etc etc being sold, maybe that's the shop you're thinking of? It opened up last month, Maaria B was there too (didn't see her though cos I couldn't be bothered to go)
We used to go to RDC a lot but recently their prices have shot up, their formal wear stuff used to be a coupla hundred but now it's around £600-700 :(

Hey where is Gul Mohar? I have been Ilford Lane many times but never seen this shop! Please let me know thanks
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
It's not actually on Ilford Lane, it's on Woodlands Road which is actually parallel to Ilford Lane. Basically just go down Hampton Road or Kingston Road (which is off Ilford Lane) until you reach the end and then turn right along Woodland Road til you see Gul Mohar. Dunno if that makes sense but it really is easy to find.
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Mad Hatter - if you go to his website Guls’s Style | Gul’s Style Bridal Wear | Pakistani Fashion | Pakistani Clothing | Wedding Dresses | www.gulsstyle.co.uk and then go to videos, there’s three videos on there and two of them are mine which he’s copied from my youtube channel. Ive asked him numerous times to take my videos off but he wont. He’s got all the professional footage from the event organisers but he’s still hell bent on using my videos. He’s pathetic!!
I actually liked his clothes and would even have looked at his stuff for my wedding but not anymore!
Oh and if you want to try any bridals on, you have to make an appointment and even then you can only try on 2 dresses! Pathetic man.
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
They do the same thing in a few shops on Ilford Lane now, we went to RDC to look for my sister's wedding dress, had to have an appointment and were only allowed to try on 3 dresses. The appt was 1 hour, the assistant spent 30 mins looking for the dresses we wanted downstairs.
Not worth it at all :(
I rang RDC about a bridal i saw on their fb from the recent bridal show.. She quoted me 3.5k for all 3... I looked closer and one of the dresses was an exact copy of a pakistani designer i have seen pics of around here think shes called Shazia, beautiful dress, and then they had the cheek to put up a status about people copying designs atleast they are original.. Lol.! I still think london is waay overpriced.! I managed to order my bridal long kameez etc from birmingham and within a decent price.! :)

Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
^I read somewhere that RDC have been collaborating with Shazia from Shazia Bridal Gallery, dunno how true that is and why the exact outfit would be copied though. I've noticed a few shops having very, very similar designs to Pakistani designers though :/
Was it 3K total for all 3, or 3k each for the dresses? The dress we went to see was about £1900 and they were charging about £100 on top if we wanted the dupatta with it.
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Also yes London is becoming wayyyy to expensive, I can't afford the prices anymore, we also got my sister's wedding dress from B'ham!
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
With 3-3.5 you could get a designer bridal piece from Sana Safinaz which are so much nicer!
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Hiya, just to update, we did order my sisters bridal from Guls, she was dad keen on his work, I think its an ice breaker because once you have good communication he is actually fine, u dnt feel ur being pushed, he delivered on time and also it turned out really well MA. Shes bought other pieces from him and its been a pleasant experience.
