Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
The guy is a moron. He always tells you to come 'back' to look at his new collection. Prices aren't negotiable , green st shops will haggle but ilford lane is all fixed prices.
His pieces are very nice, but he dosen't seem to do the designing himself... i think ...' i think!' he goes back to pakistan picks up a a few pieces and brings them back. He charges £800 for a normal outfit to wear to a wedding!!
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
P.S my review is not based on anything i have ordered from him. I have not done so yet. I am keen on , but i know nobody who has bought something from him... and his attitude ( may have been an off day or a geniuine come back but he has told me 3 times before!!)

i went in there during the summer to look for an outfit to wear for my khala's wedding. i saw one that seemed nice and it wasn't too heavy or OTT. i asked the price and was quoted 800 pounds too. i was actually speechless. it certainly wasn't worth that much. the finishing wasn't very good on it. they have some nice bits and pieces but they are over priced. not worth it imo. u can find better stuff if you shop around
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
I've never been to Ilford Lane but reading what's above has put me right off.. £800 is ridiculous, u can get gorgeous stuff in Daminis for half that..
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
lipstick and deeba high fiveee !!!!
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Thanks Sonia and Lipstick, Ive hard the same from people that he is not approachable, I find that his prices are quite high too have not purchased an outfit from him before, just wanted to get a feel of what people thought, he doesnt seem very engaging esp if ur going to spend that much....
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
hey guys, my sister got married last year. after we saw him at a wedding show we thought he would be ideal as he does pakistani styles. we went down to his store. he said we would have to choose a piece and then make your ajustments which we did. we ordered a marron gahrara which was very pricey we wanted more work done on it and we wnated the fabrics changed from a jamavar duppata to a chiffion duppata simple right?
well when the outfit came back it was not what we expected we kept calling him as the wedding was two weeks away and we wanted my sister to try it on before everything got busy a week leading up to the wedding we just went down to the store after he never called us back, and he took out this outfit which was not what we ordered. my mum n sisters heart sank it turned out to be a horrible orangy red shade rather than marron the fabrics had not been changed it was a thick heavy jamawar duppata! and the embroidry was tottally diffrent the stones used were navy when we asked for turquise so i dont know when we asked him he said this is the fashion now days....hello its not what we ordered. his stuff is really nice, we never got a chance to go pak so thought he was ideal. in the end we had to change the stones on the jewelry etc. It cost 2,300 GBP so u can imagine. in the end she had to wear it how it came such a shame.
what i think is he get one off pieces made amazing to entice customers in and order when it arrives its not what they wanted other wise i cant fault his wrk

Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Thanks Devi, its a shame really I think his unique selling point is that his styles are different and people pay for that cos its not that common, I'd hate for something like that to happen esp if ur paying sooo much. Hw was he in adjusting prices?
I think he definitely lacks the cus service part.
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
His styles are not all that different.... he basically does jackets and capri's? ... there are so many shops in london where you can actually go get them to make you what you like. There is no difference between indian/ pakistani work , its the person ordering/ designing it. If you want an anarkali frock take a picture or describe it to them. Sadly in the UK we can't go into karma and pick up a pakistani ready made ... but we can get them copied :D ( they send them back to india and they replicate it).
So if you know anarkali's are in , get one made and get kaam done on it!
Oh and they will charge £200 minimum for a suit. I often pay £400 - £500 for my clothes designed for weddings :) x
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Have u tried Gul mohar? there just around the corner from gul styles (on a side road) similar designs but way cheaper
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane

No, Ive not heard of them, are they any good? whats their customer service like?
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane

Does anyone know of any decent places in Ilford and Green st (and surrounding areas) that you can get made to measure bridal lenghas - for £1000 max??? ...and reliable places ofcourse...
thank you all!! :)
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Link to the Catwalk.
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
Mongas - Southall.
Guls clothes are rubbish.
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
His stuff can be nice but two things hes pricey and also from what i heard can be quite snobby at times.
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
I do like Guls stuff but yeah definitely too pricey.
And Mongas quality is very poor.
Re: Any experience of Guls Style- Ilford Lane
I live near Ilford Lane so I see this guy's stuff all the time, and his one off pieces are truly lovely, but the rest, I agree, are TOO MUCH. The guy is really rude and unless he thinks you will actually buy something expensive, will not even bother answering any queries about prices/loose fabric/etc. Some family friends of mine got a salwar kameez made about a year or two ago for their brother's wedding, and they came to £500 each, which was basically a velvet kameez with some work and plain salwar, his prices are now really ridiculous. I myself bought some fabric a few weeks ago for my mum and they spent the whole time telling us that what we were getting were out of fashion and how we should go for a bright garish colour (for my mum!).
Needless to say, I'm not getting my wedding dress from there :(
