Lets not just bash "westerners" at every opportunity we get. Just look at west side of our border (Afghanistan), look further west and a bit south (Arabs) too, its just as "rampant" as in "west" but is not covered by media and "society" overall.

That is true. My recent trip did screw up my head a bit. I do recognize the fact that it is mainly the Western governments who are trying to put a stop to it.

Yep, since it is not a recognized problem in our society/country we are not doing anything at all.... well even if it were a known I don't know what we would've done at "govt" level.

No its is not brushed under the carpet, the reason parents back home are not as protective about these things is because they are simply unaware of the problem one because these things are less rampant than in the west and because paedophiles have to be more discreet back home because they know they will face harsher consequences back home compared to over here, over here the worst which will happen to them is they'll get a few months or years in prison with three hot meals, comfy bed and a few luxuries and maybe some community service like volunteering at a daycare center.

May be off topic but when I was 15, a fellow Pakistani said to me "Tum log ek number kay launday baaz hotay ho". Needless to say, it didn't go over to well with me and I punched him in the face. Got suspended for 3 days but it was worth it.

Anyways, me saying that it is common in western men b/c thats wat the statistics reveal and that is WHY I am askin here that are there any desi men who are caught up or been exposed out in society diagnosed with pedophilia?
But most of the replies here are saying what I assumed that yea, our paki society don’t really touch on these issues out open and try to suppress it among four walls, which is kind a sad.
And no I am not tryin to bash wasterners, all I am saying is that if these things does happens among our community why isn’t there any active actions taken place against them.
I know couple frens of mine who actually have been a victime while they were kids … yes they r desi muslims and nothing was done with the fear of bad name of family.

There are no real statistics about this in desi countries. There was one such person in my dh's family, so we had a talk with our daughters about never being alone with any of the guys, and to tell us if anyone ever touches them in a private place or in a way that they don't like. (if underwear is covering it, no one but your mom should be touching it, and that's only if you're being washed). To make a long story short, my daughter told my MIL that she doesn't want to go with said uncle, and MIL beat her for being besharam and disrespectful.
By the way, EMM, why do you think it's not safe for girls to go anywhere alone, like even to the corner shop, in Pak?

See, b/c of these behaviour our society is not much familiar of this disorder and nothing has been done to prevent that and whoever tries it get punished like that or shoved under the rug to forget about it. Pitty!

it is said most likely a child abuser will be someone a child knows than a stranger. and yes it can be very hard to punish someone if they are from your family....even harder because some people will not believe a child's testimony.
most of the time the best most people can do is try to keep their own children safe rather than tackle the pedophile.
for child abuse the only organization i have heard of is Sahil.

^ From the cases that I have seen and heard is usually end up among own family and relatives. The sad part it no one does anything about it. You are right that it is hard topunish someone if that pedophiler is among the family and no one dare to believe their children.

There is the same amount of pedophilia in Pakistan/India/middle-east IMO you just dn't see/hear about it the news...the imams at the masjid, teachers, older relatives, tons.

Good Question! But then think that how come we as a society didn't do anything about it. Instead of creating a safe islamic environment, we have so much DEHSHAT in our country coming form guys toward women that women are scared to walk alone. They don't feel secured at all.
What if a woman can't survive without gettin out by herself, then what? Expect her die in her home or go outside die with shame?
