Another threat to Islam: Teddy Bears

This doesn’t shock me one bit. I’ve come to expect this type of behaviour.

Anyway, the great defenders of Islam in Sudan, of all places, have put a teacher in the slammer for slandering Islam.

For what? For asking little school kids what they wanted to name a teddy bear. They picked the name Muhammed and she got locked up.

Since when was the name “Muhammed” only reserved for righteous Muslims? If history means anything, the name “Muhammed” was used by heathens long before a young chap from Mecca came to be. Did his parents get locked up in jail for insulting a name owned by heathens? Of course not, the world wasn’t ruled by rowdy Muslims back then.

Unfortunately, so much worse is going on in Sudan, and this is all they can come up with. No wonder people hate Muslims so much for focusing on the most ridiculous of things... ppl like this do give us a bad name.

Re: Another threat to Islam: Teddy Bears

Re: Another threat to Islam: Teddy Bears

I bet Osama is gonna release a Tape Soon condemning the Teddy Bear as a Zionist Agent to enslave the Sudanese people

:hehe:

Re: Another threat to Islam: Teddy Bears

Totally Agree with K337

If Symbols of a country can have protection under the Law.....US Congress passed law against desecrating the US Flag......which is an inanimate object..then why do the unbelieving peoples of the World deem it not important to protect all our Holy Prophets against demeaning and slanderous acts.....:(

Re: Another threat to Islam: Teddy Bears

Nobody gets death penalty for burning US flag. Especially if it was unintentional. The idea of punishing people for accidental or ill-informed mistakes is not humane and definitely not Islamic.

Such outrages only happen in dictatorial "Muslim" countries who use this to distract their suffering population. Sudan has oil but its people live like beggars because of the looting by the governing dictatorship. Using Islam is a convenient way out.

No wonder the world has such a poor opinion of Muslims.

Re: Another threat to Islam: Teddy Bears

I agree with the post above.

I can understand it being a matter of sensitivity, but throwing people in jail and using such harsh punishments is also not acceptable. Maybe a warning, and then incorporate this rule into your law, and inform everyone about it - that's fair. Just punishing people for a first time offense when you don't have a specific law about it - then its in your Islamic nature to forgive, forget and institute something so it doesnt happen again.

I don't think giving a teddy bear the name Muhammed is a big deal. I can understand the fear that it would be then given to other objects.

So, just make a law about it and move on.

The way these leaders handle things is VERY disappointing. Their work in Darfur against their own muslims is absolutely retarded. I don't expect any better from these animals.

Re: Another threat to Islam: Teddy Bears

I dont remember too many teddy bears named Jesus. Not too sure about the hispanic teddy bears named Jesus pronounces "hay-soos". You think folks like Pat Robertson (now dead) would have caused a fuss if some kid at school had named the teddy bear as Jesus?

Re: Another threat to Islam: Teddy Bears

Re: Another threat to Islam: Teddy Bears

I remember a Museum in New York had an “exhibit” of Mary and Jesus made of - human waste - yes $hit.

Sure, there was a lot of protest and outcry by Christian groups but no one was put in jail. People stopped going to the museum and threatened to boycott the place but that was it.

If they are a real Islamic state, then why don’t they first eliminate Muslim on Muslim violence? Instead they kill Black Muslims in Darfur but find time to take outrage at a doll.

Re: Another threat to Islam: Teddy Bears

^ u are forgetting that we muslims are iconoclast. so any kind of imagery is forbidden. whereas as christian are not iconoclasts.

-Muslims dont believe in crucifixion. (even some christian group dont beleive). so mostly imagery that christian art portray have almost nothing to do with Islam.

Re: Another threat to Islam: Teddy Bears

^^ It doesn't matter. The Islam I know does not support punishing people for ignorant mistakes.

In today's day and age hurting people or even executing them for mere words - even offensive - is barbaric.

Sudan should first execute its Muslim rulers who have massacred thousands of fellow Muslims merely for being Black.

Then they can talk about other stuff.
