MiniMe,
Maybe, maybe not. Iam leaning towards maybe not based on their history of changing colors whenever required. Your observation is based on sincere optimism, I hope u r right and Iam proven wrong.
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
I was financial advisor to the General incharge of Military hospital in Riyadh. Zia's son and son in law were working there, where by the way they didn't get the job because they were competent but because papa pulled some strings. Zia's son in law after working for two years decided to go to UK for further studies. Shortly after he left, one day I got a call from the Hospital director to see him. When I got to his office he asked we what sort of a pathetic president we had. I asked him why, he gave me a letter from King Fahad in which the king had asked the hospital to pay for Zia's son in law's expenses and course fees in UK. He than showed me a letter form Zia to the Saudi king which was attached to the kings letter in which Zia had requested the king to pay for his son in laws studying expenses. I wonder whether Zia wrote any other letters to the king asking for money for more deserving Pakistanis to be educated in UK.
While his son and son in law were working in the hospital they had access to a chauffer driven embassy car 24/7.
Ehsan Bhai,
Thanks for sharing this little information, you'r the man.

Ehsan bhai twada shukriya but this is a trivial example but Gen zia shouldn't have done that. People at high level do use their connection for personal benefits- all over the world. Musharraf has his son studying in the US and while studying he had all the benefits. How did Zia's rule impact the commoner in Pakistan? Was there corruption in the ruling masses? I was very young back then(like10-11 yr old when he died) but used to hear some stories here and there in Lahore, Srgodha etc. IF you know about him and things you saw/experienced during his rule, please share with us. Thanks in advance!
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
You perhaps never lived in Pakistanunder Bibi's rule :CareBear:
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf’s misrule and corruption
what relationship does it have with corruption in government?
At one point you are claiming that he was a “pious” muslim then you say he had liking for Bollywood… ![]()
I see you are actually here to mock at Punjabi’s intelligence… sorry I thought that you are Punjabi yourself ![]()
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf’s misrule and corruption
Captain1 saab, Bibi was also corrupt and much worse than Big tind. Big Tind provided the cleanest goverance Pakistan has ever seen. Mushy did to Barrey Tind wat Zia did to ZAB. Zia was a very strict muslim… people used to say, he was “adhey raat ka namazi” and used to offer all 5 prayers but he also had a weakness- Bollywood. He invited all Bollywood personalities who had ancestral links to Pakistan(Hindu Punajbis and Sindhis etc. like Manoj Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Vinod Khan, Jeetendra, Shatrighana Singh) to visit their ancestral homes. I am sorry if my post makes you believe I am mocking at my own race
But Punjabi intelligence is matchless… See, you have Father of Pakistan’s nuclear bomb- Dr. Samar Mubarakmand, Ahmedi Scientist Dr. Abdus Sattar.. the list goes endless. No other community has produced so many brilliant people in such a short time.
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
According to Transparecy International BB's govt was far more corrupt then all choti, wadi tind aba ji included.. I think it was because of Mr. 10 percent, she would have done better without him.
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
Check Ahmed Fraz's interview on BBC Urdu online.
Its a good one. See what he has to say about these govts.
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf’s misrule and corruption
Hehe…read a book! You guys think American support and sanctions are solely responsible for the growth? ‘Im sure America asked us to Privatize our banks so everyone can have better access to finance and to support telecom industry’.
It’s a shame how much people delude themselves to feed their ignorance…
Musharraf is the best thing that ever happened to Pakistan since Quiad E Azam. ![]()
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
Do you remember anything about the Motorway projects? Yellow cab projects? Ittefaq foundaries? What do you know about all this?
Cleanest governance my foot.

I have said it again and again, don't be a nazi, God has not restricted intelligence to a particular gene, race, ethnicity. Don't be so arrogant, Allah hates arrogance.

If you read pakistan's history the most prosperous time was Ayub's but within 2 years of him leaving the office we lost our Eastern half, when you do not have governments which represent people, few people making big decisions mostly for their own sake without consultations or any regard of public opinion, when you use the state power to crush your own people and destroy the constitution at your convenience these apparantly good times for a few will result in a disaster pretty soon for the country(God Forbid)
Army has no right to rule whatever the excuse
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf’s misrule and corruption
Oh good job mentioning some punjabi names but forgetting all the mohajirs who built pakistan! Some names for you in the field science.
Dr. A. Q. Khan
Dr. Salimuzzaman Siddiqui
Dr. Ata-ur-Rahman
Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
Hahahaha...thats gotta be the joke of the century...
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
Glad you enjoyed the joke but his misrule was very painful for the peopie of Paksitan. We are still paying for his incompetency and stupidity.
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
How so? Some incompetent psycho he was, the economy some how grew on average by 6 percent under his misrule and mismanagement...
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
Describes him perfectly.
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
Economic growth does not translate to development and progress always unless there is a fair political system and development. Ayub Khan delivered double digit growth but it was slanted to certain regions at the expense of others..the end result was East Pakistans separation. Similarly Zia did the same and created a legacy we are still dealing with..I wouldn't be surprised if we pay a similar price for Musharrafs acts of omission and commission. As I keep saying, its not about how big the economic cake is..its about how its cut.
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
Ok, Musharraf's son is around 30-35, and was in the US LOOOOONG before Musharraf even became a general, let alone becoming the president. If you know him, you will see what a great person he is, hardly living under his fathers shadow, worked at a company in Boston, and now doing his Masters at Stanford, and hes a brilliant guy, the company he worked for is supporting him for his masters, and thats what most companies in the US do to help their employees. You shouldnt just accuse someone without any credible evidence bro.
Re: Another Letter prompted by Musharraf's misrule and corruption
Dr. A. Q. Khan Dr. Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Dr. Ata-ur-Rahman Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy
Although I agree, being punjabi has nothing to do with brilliance, but the first example you gave is very poor. The man wasnt really a scientist, more of an administrator. I mean you can leave all the science to Dr. Samar, for he knows his stuff. The PEAC was the driving factor of the whole program, and Dr. Samar was the real brains behind it, not AQ. Dr. Samar however, didnt get politicized much because he knew he was a scientist (and a very good one unlke AQ) and not a politician. As for the rest of the people you mentioned, yes, they are awesome, totally agree with you. I also read a paper on particle kinetics from Hoodbhoy, good stuff. And Atta-ur-Rahman's efforts will be bearing fruit within the next 3-4 years when all those brilliant Pakistani students off to higher education return to Pakistan and serve the country.
