Someone was selling some Indians suits and told me to come and see them. The suits were quite nice and elegend, for formal gatherings. The stiching wasn’t very fine as some threads were coming out, so now the lady said that Indian S/k suits are much better then Pakistani suits !! I was like whaaat! cant be as I’ve seen nice pakistani suits with nice work done, so what do you ladies think, are generally Indians better in fashion as us Pakistanis ???

I think Indian fashin sense sucks whenever they try to ape the western fashions. When they do their own, it is excellent.

Umm, hard to say as I haven't seen Pakistani fashions.
Indian boutiques in Delhi and Bombay have gorgeous styles. I don't know where your friend got the s/k from. I mean if the stitching was coming out it was obviously from Lajpat nagar or something. That place has great rip offs.
I come from Delhi and I can tell you some fantastic places to shop at. The Indo/western syles are in great demand.
Heck the only one who can answer you is someone who has seen both fashion at close quarter. But hazarding a guess I would say India has more designers than Pakistan, so maybe you'll see a lot more styling going on in India. :)
over here in OZ.. i dont like the clothes from the indian boutiques.. but thats cus they are aimed at a different market... the clothes we get are from a pakistani lady, who gets clothes from boutiques or private designers in Pakistan..
on the other hand... when a private designer came from India to show her clohtes.. i was in love... and bought a suit which every paki compliments as you cant get the material here..
but yeah... im fussy with my shilwar kameezein... they've gotta be unique.. (i know.. im such a fuss pot)
I usually buy my shalwar kameez's in london so am not sure if they are made by pakistanis or indians. The clothes I bought in pakistan are really nice, but they weren't ready made.
I have bought a couple of Rohit Bals outfits and they are beautifully made, and I get a lot of wear out of them too.
Ok, here goes. If you want saris buy only in Jaipur. Delhi wallahs get saris from Jaipur and sell it for double the price.
Delhi is the place for s/k. As Matsui said, Hauz khaz village is a good place to start with. There is a boutique called Ogaan there which sells a lot of designer labels - JJ Vallaya, Rohit Bal, Reena Dhaka etc. Be warned that it is tres pricey. Look around the village before you buy. I usually buy salwar kameezes from a boutique called Sara but it’s a nightmare finding the place, let me see if I can get the adress for you. The lady there makes her stuff and sells it to all these high priced places. You can get good formals for 5000 bucks, and a lot of indo/western stuff.
Then you can also try Greater Kailash market, and a boutique called Gyaans.
Lastly, if you can go to old Delhi and visit Karol Bagh. There’s a Gyaans there too, plus a host of other shops.
Ok I’ll put my PM on -
Hey someone should post pics of Indian and Pakistani fashions here!
Muniya dear, why do you want to cover yourself up so much? ;)
Seriously though, the little I have seen of Pakistani fashions I find them different. The colors and prints are bolder. It's a case of the grass being greener on the other side, so yeah I do wish I had a Pakistani outfit in my wardrobe but I don't know where to get one.
But Muniya the material in India too is very good. It depends on what you've seen. If you've been visiting Indian shops in the US, for eg, they suck. The best place to buy Indian fashion is in India, or from visiting designers who charge an arm and a leg.
