KARACHI: The
Anti-Corruption Unit of the International Cricket council (ICC) is investigating
a match spot-fixing scandal in the Twenty20 World Cup played this year in the
West Indies.
Sources told Geo News that the ICC Anti-corruption Unit is
probing the involvement of one or two Pakistan players in a match spot-fixing
during the tournament. The match was played between Pakistan and South Africa on
May 10, 2010. In the match Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. There
are reports of alleged spot-fixing in the first 10 overs of the
The sources further informed that under investigation players in
this scandal had planned for alleged spot-fixing through mobile phones. The
numbers on which contacts were made are of England, West Indies and Dubai
series.
The sources told that the ICC’s Anti-corruption Unit has
interrogated two Pakistani players in this regard, and players had accepted that
these numbers belong to them
More details regarding the match and the
players involved in spot-fixing are expected in next 24 hours.
GEO reporting that the two players involved are Salman Butt and Kmran Akmal. They have accepted that the mobile phone numbers were theirs and the other name being mentioned is of Mazhar majeed.
GEO is not right, ICC is not right, the only person who speaks the truth is Salman Butt.
I would expect salman to sue GEO because they are clearly saying that Salman and Kmaran’s mobiles were used to contact mazhar and that ICC has details of the sims and the phone calls and that Salman and Kmarna have admitted to it. Are you saying GEO has manufactured this whole story. These idiots (salman, kamran and co) will get Pakistan banned from cricket.
I think a lot of details are not coming out, but there are solid reasons as to why PCB has deserted the likes of Salman, Aamer, Kamran, Asif and Danish. Obviously the individuals involved will maintain their innocence otherwise they know they will be banned for life if they ever admit their guilt.

Are we really surprised to hear Butt and Akmals name pop up again? I'm not. They definitely have been corrupt.. and may have not been fixing whole matches but definitely spot fixing.
