**Are lal masjid miscreants spreading thru the country? This is a serious development. Is there peace in rest of the country?

Shots were fired after President Gen. Pervez Musharraf’s plane took off from a military base on Friday in what one official described as a failed assassination attempt.
“It was an unsuccessful effort by miscreants to target the president’s plane,” a senior security official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak on the record. “They fled quickly, and our security agencies are still investigating.”
Security forces quickly surrounded a house in Rawalpindi, a garrison city south of the capital. Three other officials told the AP that two anti-aircraft guns and a light machine gun were found on the rooftop.
The senior security official said Musharraf was aboard the plane at the time, although he insisted that the president was not within the range of the attackers’ weapons.
Television footage from an overlooking building showed a large gun pointed skyward next to a satellite dish as security officials rushed around. It was unclear if the gun had been fired.
The house lies under the flight path of the main runway used by both the Chaklala Air Base and the adjoining Islamabad International Airport. Passenger jets thundered overhead as police and soldiers swarmed the area.

ive noticed that there has been a crackdown on inflitration of militant into afghanistan, lets hope the authourities stay on top of where the weapons intended for afghanistan actually end up now that the border is being sealed

failure on this is not a option

I remember shaheed bhutto (the one given shadat by zia, not his sister) days, and many in the country wanted him to be hanged for the murder charges.

this man must stay alive and in the country after he has left office. this is to prove we are improving in our outlook and acceptence of past leaders. without this the nation will be encouraged a 'coup' mentality where no leaders are respected.

You bring up a very interesting point. Considering the situation Musharraf is in right now, he is loved and supported by educated, moderate and world-friendly Pakistanis all over the country, from Islamabad to Interior Sindh. Not only that, Pakisatanis in the West support him.

Gordon Brown, new PM of England, called Musharraf and congratulated him on lal masjid/red mosque operation. Gordon Brown is a white man and not a mohajir. Don’t let your hatred blind you, please.

When shaheed bhutto (one given shahadat by zia, not his sister) was convicted and sent to the gallows, country supported that decision.

Exactly my thoughts. Had to be an inside job to co-ordinate and pull this off. How else would the attackers know when and where Mush's plane will take off and which plane to target?

I think as I said earlier that many punjabi officers of the army are unhappy that why didn't musharraf get assassinated! And this guy I am talking about is US trained helicopter pilot [no jihadi]. There are many people who still support the ex-gunja and haven't gotten over the fact that a "mahajir" can be president. No wonder the bengalis left.. Pakistan is totally ****ed up!!!
