Annoying thing about indians

They say Salwar Kameez, instead of Shalwar Kameez. They also write laDka when it makes perfect sense to write laRka.

Most indians also have an annoying english accent. They stretch it too much. SIIIIIR. THA CAAAAAASTOOOMAAAR is OOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNN THA LYYYYNNNNEEEEE.

Re: Annoying thing about indians

actually with a bit of modifications, Pakistanies from back home sound like indians too :p

although I can not get over "D" instead of "R" ... some words become really nasty with that spelling....

Also, words starting with "ZAY" and "KHaY" become "Jeem" and "kahy"

Re: Annoying thing about indians

It may be that Indian find our accents annoying too :)

I never got fuffi, sabji, etc but i'm sure they think its wierd saying it as Phupi, sabzi, etc.

Re: Annoying thing about indians

They train their actors to speak with exact Pronunciation as genrally pakistanis speaks. so i dont think so that our accent is annoying to them :)

Re: Annoying thing about indians

^ oh, I didn't know that. Why dont they like speaking in their own accent?

Re: Annoying thing about indians

Everyone likes to speak with a right pronunciation . . . and then no one can deny the fact . . . That URDU is a beautiful language . . :)

Re: Annoying thing about indians

No one teaches Bollywood actor to 'speak' like Pakistanis! they speak like they naturally do!

people pronounce stuffs in Hindi/Urdu whatever way they want in Indiawith their own mothertongue influencing the pronunciations.
like sometimes Sabzi becomes Sabji, Bazaar becomes Bajaar, Huzoor turns into Hujoor etc.
itz mostly with 'Z' and "J", though in mordern Hindi, the sound "Z', "Kh" etc which have Perso-Arabic origins are represented by putting a dot underneath the alphabet needing the sound.
some even pronounce Khan, without the proper "Khh" ka sound.
and about Salwar or Shalwar, well Indians can say that about Pakistanis too!
and anyways, even Walmart introduced South Asian Ethic wear writing Salwar, not Shalwar.
and people do pronounce Fuffi as Fuffi, not Phupi, and yeah, Phupi is weird!
well, about LaDka, and not LaRka, even i was confused at first. well, thats because, in Hindi, theres an alphabet, which i dunno how to write in English, though itz some thing like "Dhaah" (stress on 'Dha", roll your tongue a bit in the front edge and touch it with the upside portion of your andar ka mouth and say it, with your tongue loosing itz contact with the mouth at the end ) which is used in writing LaDka, JoDi blah blah blah though itz pronounced as LaRka, JoRi etc. and as the official lingoo, it, unfortunately, have become the valid way of writing desi words in Roman script in India.

well, Pakistani accents are annoying too. the whole of the Desi accent is actually annoying. the neutral sounding accent is more proper.

No one said that indian actors are tought to speak like pakistanis . . . i said they are tought to speak propper pronounciation . . . .

Recently I saw a Movei of Soha ALi khan . . . I cant remember the name . . . but in that movie its been shown that they work on their pronounciation . . . .

I have two office fellows from india one from bihar and the other one from UP Sarangpur . . . the friend from Sarangpur is graduated from Ali Garh University his pronounciation is excellent . . .

Re: Annoying thing about indians

They showed actors 'taught' to speak with proper pronounciation? i am not such a Soha Ali Khan fan. more like a Saif Ali Khan Pataudi fan.
most actors in Bollywood are North Indians. the actors who learn tp pronounciation 'correctly' are non North Indians. but now most non-Hindi/Urdu speaking people dont need to be tutored to speak proper Hindi/Urdu. BUT, if itz a film like Mughal-e-Azam, Taj Mahal, Paakezah or Joddha-Akbar, then itz another thing. i dont think an average Urdu speaker speaks like that in daily life. that would need learning.
Well, most Biharis pronounce like i mentioned above.
itz like they have these word in their own dialects with a different pronounciation that they use those pronounciation only while speaking standard Hindi or Urdu.
UPites have better pronounciation, Lucknow being one of the centers where Urdu developed.

Re: Annoying thing about indians

My own English accent is pretty fobby. But South Indians have such a thick accent that most of the time I am used as a translator. No insult intended just a comment in passing. I respect my co-workers they are smart breed.

I don't think its an issue of "Indian" pronunciation vs. "Pakistani" pronunciation. They're just taught to speak with the proper, standard Urdu pronunciation...which probably happens to be used more commonly in Pakistan than in India, because there's more emphasis on Urdu education there.

Re: Annoying thing about indians

having accent is one thing but hindi version of english, whats with that??

I never said that they are tought to speak like Pakistanis. . :halo:
