Anniversary present for my wife

Help needed.

Our first year anniversary is coming up and I don’t know what to get.

We have already booked a long weekend away but what to buy??

No matter what I get I am going to send some pictures for a photo album - but that is just something I have wanted to give for a while but what else.

I know she likes baking so I can buy something related to that…so difficult.

Rings, bracelets, watches and perfumes are out of the question as she does not wear them, well she does the perfume but has loads already from me.

She is probably having an easier time as i like my gadgets.

Edit: I went shopping recently with her and she liked two bags and a pair of shoes but didn’t buy them. I can buy all these but i don’t think it would be like an anniversary present, more of a birthday present…oh damn…her birthday is a month later!!!

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

Welcome back bro! Where have you been hiding all these weeks?

I think a spa day with massage, facial, manicure, pedicure would be a nice anniversary gift in addition to the weekend getaway. This should not be part of the weekend, give her a gift certificate so she can use it anytime she wants to when she gets back from the weekend and has something to open.

The purses and/or shoes would be a nice b-day gift! You're all set for both occasions.

Dude, is your wife on here? Someone else was asking for anniversary gift suggestions today.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

Sorry I didn't reply in the other thread, I just couldn't find the time to log on and more or less forgot about my post. Very busy at work and by the time i get home the time goes on the wife, mum, Islam and whatever else I need to do.

I booked her in three weeks ago for a massage, she didn't really enjoy it but its the first time she has ever been so it could have been the actual person carrying it out wasn't to her liking so I can book her in for a spa day but would it not have less significance because i already booked her in a few weeks ago?

I have just read the other thread, definitely not my wife :-)

Thanks for your input on the other thread, it made me see things from a different perspective and Alhamdulillah we have fine ever since.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

I’m not a baking chic but I’ve heard a lot of girls talking about a bread machine, perhaps a roti maker, or a tortilla press! I’ve been watching recipe videos lately and someone used a tortilla press to make some interesting millet and sorghum roties.

The Cupcake Shop

And throw in a cookbook with whatever you end up buying.

A photo session also sounds nice. Not sure if I understood it correctly from your post.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

That is so sweet of you to book her a massage out of the blue! :k:

There are many types of massage: Swedish, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue, Thai, Hot Stone massage. Go for a spa with a nice ambiance. On our honeymoon we had a couples massage with gentle ocean breeze and lovely relaxing music. It was absolutely lovely. If you’ve never had a massage, you should go for swedish massage and ask the therapist to be gentle as your muscles will be a bit sensitive.

Before booking a massage, let the therapist know what you’re looking for and ask which style she uses. Many use more than one style. Or the therapist may customize your massage, depending on your age, condition, or any special needs or goals (stress relief/ symptom relief) you have.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

Thats a good site, I was just looking at Amazon initially.

If I got her anything other than a cake maker she would probably think that I want her to make better rotis etc!!!

It is a simple photo album where you choose which pictures you want to uload, place them where you want and in whatever configuration you want and its delivered to you.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

That sounds magical!!

I have heard of Swedish, Deep Tissue and Hot Stone Massages. If I choose this option, which would be best for her if she has the occasional back pains anyway?

So far we are going to have a registry wedding. This is where you get married under civil law as we never did that and we thought it would be sweet to do it on our anniversary so we are looking for some outfits for that and then straight after we are going on a weekend away. Then the options I have are: Spa day, baking equipment and photo book.

Sorry I just read the last bit again and yes I could ring them and ask for advice on which would be best suited for her needs.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

Why don't you get her a kitchenaid mixer if she's into baking?

Buy her diamond studs or ring. Diamonds are forever. Whether she wears jewlry or not, they will keep with her forever

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

She currently uses the one in the following link.

Andrew James Powerful 300 Watt Hand Mixer With Chrome Beaters, Dough Hooks, 5 Speed With Turbo Button Includes Balloon Whisk: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home

That is the only thing stopping me from getting another one, even though whichever I buy will be better than the current one which she only bought herself a couple of months ago.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

I am considering studs, definitely an option.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

Don’t over do it. It’s only your first anniversary. Diamonds, weekend get-away, spa day, photo album, bake ware. You’ll have plenty of occasions as well as out of the blue surprises to give her everything listed here

If she just bought it a couple of months ago, let her enjoy that one. You have so many choices of other things to buy!

  1. If you’re going to buy diamond studs, do check out Blue Nile. You’ll get more diamond for your pound. And get the bezel setting. I so love it. We just bought me diamond studs this past weekend to go with the diamond necklace he gave for my birthday and we ended up paying twice the amount for the diamonds listed on blue nile. This is a great site. Found out about this site from the guys at work.
  2. I LOVE LOVE LOVE William Sonoma. You’ll find lots of wonderful bakeware there.
  3. What about an ice cream maker? My MIL bought her other DIL an ice cream maker for her anniversary. They love it and made some really yummilicious ice cream once to bring out to our house for dinner.
  4. A super duper smoothie maker like Vitamix or Blendtec
  5. What about a desi Pressure Cooker? Just found out recently from a desi woman that desi Pressure Cookers are dutch oven (kinda like this one) not deep like the one that I bought. :frowning:
  6. Cast Iron Cookware is all the rage, these days or I just wasn’t aware of cookware before

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

If she likes baking cakes, get the cake mixer, cake baking pans, and other accessories.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

...yourself... wearing only a smile.

Or handcuffs perhaps.

Anniversary present for my wife

If she likes baking or cooking they offer cooking classes for couples to do together. It's more of a valentines type thing but still sweet. Personally I like a physical gift. First anniversary is big so give her a gift but also something thoughtful along with it.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

I love the idea of the album - its so perfect. If you want to add, do jewelry.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

The traditional 1st wedding anniversary gift is 'paper'(US) or 'cotton' (UK).
The modern 1st wedding anniversary gift is 'clocks'.

I would suggest you not overdo it, especially since her birthday is also not too far off, but still make the effort.

Maybe you could stick to the traditional/modern twists each year..many ideas out there on the net.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

NO dont do anything related to food .... r you asking her to do more khidmat of you or are you thanking her for first wonderful year together. See what are her likes and dislikes. A day out in a spa not just massage ( facial, manicure, padicure whole thing) is a good idea. Just massage .... well that I can get done in a small room too. Liek someone said up here there are different types of massages ....... put them together with womenly perks like facial and stuff. Just her relaxing day.

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

he is getting me an ipad mini for the anniversary! even asked me if I wanted something of gold but I refused!

Re: Anniversary present for my wife

I wouldn't set the trend dude... if you give something this time around, it is **never **going away. If you *must *start with flowers only so next time the expectation is low.

You can always get away with it by pretending that you forgot.
