Serious Q, I dont understand this concept of "soul"

I have been brought up with a definition of it being I suppose, the thing that makes something alive

if animals dont have souls

what gives then that spark of life?

We humans are not native of this planet, but animals are native species of planet earth. They have a well integrated chemistry with this planet and thus their inner nature is evident from outside. Means that they are what they apears to be.

But for us humans, we came here to this planet to conquer and live here and destroy its native species ... Thus man has this dual personality and the real nature of man is known as soul and the appearance is body.

Man is intrinsically evil, animals are not !

Who said animals don’t have one?

They do…It’s just that humans after ages and ages of putting all sorts of different things on our feet, ours have become soft and useless…

Animals on the other hand live in the wild, hence theirs are tough and hard enabling them to walk over rough terrain…

Animals have more soul than humans. They're the ones in close and constant contact with nature, with the planet earth and all of it's spleandour. Cmon, we humans dun een give a fig if we're destroying our own ozone layer.. At least they do they their own thing and dun try to screw others' chances.

Oh and btw, anything that lives, has a soul.

No , animals do not have a soul. I heard Dr. Israr Ahmad say it once in a discussion.

yes heard that, but animals are going to be ressurected - so they might have souls.

Also, that is his opinion – there is no hadith or quranic verse that states otherwise.

I have heard in various talks that animals would not be ressurected; whereas Humans and Jinns will be.

I have not been able to find anything in Quran that says that animals will not be Resurrected.

Here is the Sura that states “..wild beasts are brought togather”. Similar sentence is used to indicate the ressurection of Humans and Jinns in various Suras.

Sura 81 “Al-Takwir - The Folding Up”

When the sun is folded up; when the stars fall down and the mountains are blown away; when the camels big with their young are left untended and the wild beasts are brought togather; when the seas are burning and men’s souls are reunited (with their bodies);

Verse: 81:1

Does this mean that animals will be ressurected (like humans and jinns)?

Yes they will be, however they will not be judged. THe only purpose they’ll serve is the retribution they deserve. They will tell Allah swt about the torture, or death that they have had at the hands of the Humans, and then they will turn into dust. And then Allah swt with deal with those humans that the animals have complained against.

Thats their only purpose on the day of judgement.

soul is one more of the religious buzz words - no real definition but necessary to perpetuate the carrot-and-stick story of heaven and hellfire.

while its conceivable that animals have no souls and just die and get done with, it is blasphemous to even think the same of humans.

well souls suppose to be immaterial. Basically after death they will either go to hell or heaven plus some in between lets not worry about those here.

for dogs, cats etc i dont remember reading anything about dogs being in heaven 'astagfriulah'.

plus you are basically going to be judge to either enter hell or heaven. I dont think dogs or cats can do only certain type of deeds to go to heaven or hell.

so it brings us to a question what is the purpose for these.
I guess its another form of test for us humans how we treat them. Value of life and Allah's creativity. gosh i took biological philosophy where i had to sit and praise a cocroach - what a creativity?
