Here is what I have been able to find:

25:38] Also `Aad, Thamoud, the inhabitants of Al-Russ, and many generations between them. [25:39] To each of these groups, we delivered sufficient examples, before we annihilated them.
[25:40] They have passed by the community that was showered with a miserable shower (Sodom). Did they not see it? The fact is, they never believed in resurrection.
Messengers Ridiculed
[25:41] When they saw you, they always ridiculed you: "Is this the one chosen by GOD to be a messenger?
[25:42] “He almost diverted us from our gods, if it were not that we steadfastly persevered with them.” They will certainly find out, when they see the retribution, who are the real strayers from the path.
The Ego as a god
[25:43] Have you seen the one whose god is his own ego? Will you be his advocate?
**[25:44] **Do you think that most of them hear, or understand? They are just like animals; no, they are far worse.

These are very interesting verses in Sura: Al-Furqan (The Statute Book).

In verse 25:40, it is revealed that these people (People who rejected the Prophets (PBUT) - never believed in ressurrection (i.e. believed, that once they are dead - they will not be raised again).

Now, few verse below - It is said about the same people - that “They are just like animals; no, they are far worse.” - In conjuction with the above - One can say that (keeping verse: 81:1 -

Sura 81 “Al-Takwir - The Folding Up”
*
When the sun is folded up; when the stars fall down and the mountains are blown away; when the camels big with their young are left untended and the wild beasts are brought togather; when the seas are burning and men’s souls are reunited (with their bodies);*

in mind - that the animals will be ressurected, and even though they do not have the soul (animals will be in their orginal shapes) - whereas we humans will be different.
Just to expand on “no, they are far verse” - it is safe to say that since animals worship Allah (but do not have soul) - but these people are far worse because not only they disbelive in ressurection but also in Allah, and fail to worship Allah (S.W.T.)

Who said animals don't have one?

They do...It's just that humans after ages and ages of putting all sorts of different things on our feet, ours have become soft and useless...

Animals on the other hand live in the wild, hence theirs are tough and hard enabling them to walk over rough terrain...

Then how do you explain horse shoes? :-|

So, according to Itsme01, animals dont have souls because souls are only necessary for Humans because its what goes to hell or heaven when one dies… and as for animals… poor lil animals they just turn to dust and thats the end of the matter?

but according to the doctrine of Lajawab… they have one…

YUSUFALI: To those who reject Our signs and treat them with arrogance, no opening will there be of the gates of heaven, nor will they enter the garden, until the camel can pass through the eye of the needle:* Such is Our reward for those in sin.

Animals are going to be in the afterlife. However, like i suggested previously - that they are going to be in their original shape unlike humans who would have different shape. Thats where the **SOUL **comes in.

Also, Keep in mind - That Day(Judgment Day), Our Souls will be reunited with the Body,and this body will be left once again for those entering Paradise*****. However, People Going to Hell will remain in the same body**** **(as it is said in Quran: that their skins will come anew once it burns - and that they will have bellies, etc)
However, I need to research more to on the “grey” part above (so dont take my word on that)

Now, would these animals return to their previous masters i.e. pets to their keepers? Growing up, I had 7 dogs (5 pups + 2), bunch of parakeet, 3 pigeons, guppies (fish), and a swan. Would they all return back to me in the afterlife or would I have to go to the animal mandi and haggle for them? I'd like to be reunited with my pets; I miss them, especially the pups.
