who take Education for granted. Why?
Did you go to school because you were passionate about learning?
I went because I knew I had to. It was expected of me. No regrets. But it just makes me question myself if I would have reached this far if there was no one to push me?
I was reading the article about the 13 year old Pakistani kid who set himself on fire, because his family couldn’t afford a school uniform.
Well its really sad. Parents need to make their kids realise the importance of education but it’s the gov’ts job to help the under priviledged ones with free education.
i believe an educated family sets a minimum standard for us that at least we get a degree.....as we grow up we under stand that we must get a degree or with out that we will be black sheep of our own family....some times least interested persons in education manage to complete their education due to that pressure....
But there are some unfortunate peoples who could not finish their education even after having lot more inclination towards studies than kids of rich families...
and burning of that kid is poor kid is very sad...May Allah give him jannah.......
I was a total nerd, so went to college with all the passion in the world, and then grad school with much uber excitement. I got run down with burn out last year, and then previously had pretty bad burn out in my third yr of college. That’s how into it I got, I unnecessarily burned myself out.
I was the kid who took every advanced and AP class she could get her hands on, just to take it.
What’s annoying is that my friends interpreted it as being competetive, and that was never the case. I just liked to do school work, and be involved and active in school with leadership roles, etc. You know, living up to my bari amaa status.
Anyway, it’s sad to here that the kid went through all that. You know what helps? So many of us go to Pakistan regularly, just go to a gov’t school or private school and offer to pay some kid’s tuitiion whose parents are struggling to make the payments. That’s what I usually do. My few dollars go a long way.
You know i have been through lots of struggles and couldn't go to college with people of my age back then. Though, i had passion to go to school and finish education like most of my peers did. I have recently found out that..i am much more driven and passionate about learning with amount of practical experience i have..i am in much better position then them. What i am saying is..i neva take education for granted. Everyone should work hard and try to imply these practices in real life as well.
Interesting point. I went because it was expected of me and at the time I wished to work in the profession. Now, I’ve found that I’m much better suited to be an a-hole type of executive
That story about the Pakistani kid is quite sad. While we should all try and help out when we can, the buck ultimately stops with our government. Unfortunately what we see are people like Shahbaz Sharif spending billions on useless laptop schemes in an effort to win votes, while kids in government schools make do without teachers, roofs and desks and chairs.

I don't mean to sound unsympathetic but the kid can't have been mentally stable if he set himself on fire over a school uniform.
