I think its going to be Anaheim Angels!
The way they humiliated Minnesota 2 nights ago, I have never seen loose that bad and plus they beat the mighty Yankees.
Ahh, it will be Giants coming to Disneyland ![]()
Angels will will “win this one for the cowboy”. The rest of the country will have to jump on the bandwagon. Just as with basketball, im sure the chants in Bay Area this time for baseball will be “Beat LA” ![]()
According to the following analysis, it should be a walk in the ball park for angels ![]()
[First Look: World Series](http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp firstlook15oct15,0,4732724.story?coll=la%2Dheadlines%2Dsports 2Dmlb%2Dangels)
ANGELS vs. SAN FRANCISCO
Regular-season record: Giants, 95-66; Angels, 99-63.
Head to head: Did not play.
How they got here: Giants defeated Atlanta in NLDS, 3-2; defeated St. Louis in NLCS, 4-1; Angels defeated New York Yankees in ALDS, 3-1; defeated Minnesota in ALCS, 4-1.
Team batting: Giants, .267, fourth in NL; Angels, .282, first in AL.
Runs scored: Giants, 783, third in NL; Angels, 851, fourth in AL.
Home runs: Giants, 198, second in NL; Angels, 152, tied for 10th in AL.
Team ERA: Giants, 3.54, second in NL; Angels, 3.69, second in AL.
– HOW THEY MATCH UP
–
CATCHER
Benito Santiago, Giants vs. Bengie Molina, Angels: Santiago resurrected his career from the scrap heap and has been a clutch hitter in the playoffs. Molina led the AL in percentage of base stealers thrown out, but had trouble preventing wild pitches against the Twins. Edge: Giants.
FIRST BASE
J.T. Snow, Giants vs. Scott Spiezio, Angels: If there’s a better defensive first baseman than Spiezio, it’s probably Snow. Spiezio is a better hitter. Edge: Angels.
SECOND BASE
Jeff Kent, Giants vs. Adam Kennedy, Angels: Kent has won an MVP award and is one of the best-hitting second basemen of all time. Kennedy probably won’t hit three homers in a game again, and he sits against left-handers. Edge: Giants.
THIRD BASE
David Bell, Giants vs. Troy Glaus, Angels: Bell is a good defender and is steady at the plate. Glaus has more power and is better on defense. Edge: Angels.
SHORTSTOP
Rich Aurilia, Giants vs. David Eckstein, Angels: Both are average on defense. Aurilia had an off year at the plate, while Eckstein has been the catalyst on offense for Anaheim. Edge: Giants.
LEFT FIELD
Barry Bonds, Giants vs. Garret Anderson, Angels: Barry Bonds is, well, Barry Bonds. Anderson is an underrated player and a key to the Angel offense. Edge: Giants.
CENTER FIELD
Kenny Lofton, Giants vs. Darin Erstad, Angels: Lofton has given the Giants a solid leadoff man and is their only real base-stealing threat. Erstad is a perennial Gold Glove candidate who does all the little things that help you win ballgames. Edge: Angels.
RIGHT FIELD
Reggie Sanders, Giants vs. Tim Salmon, Angels: Sanders has been through a World Series before – last season with Arizona. Salmon is the comeback player of the year, but he struggled against the Twins. Edge: Angels.
DESIGNATED HITTER
Take your pick, Giants vs. Brad Fullmer/Shawn Wooten, Angels: The Giants have several options among Shawon Dunston, Tsuyoshi Shinjo, Marvin Benard and Pedro Feliz. Fullmer and Wooten are solid for Angels. Edge: Angels.
ROTATION
The Angel quartet of Jarrod Washburn, Kevin Appier, Ramon Ortiz and John Lackey were solid against the Twins, though Appier provided some scary moments. The Giants will rely on Russ Ortiz, Jason Schmidt, Kirk Rueter and Livan Hernandez. Edge: Angels.
BULLPEN
The Angels have one of the best bullpens in baseball, and a premier closer in Troy Percival. The Giants have Felix Rodriguez to match strikeouts with Francisco Rodriguez, plus Robb Nen to close. Percival is better than Nen. Edge: Angels.

aap to chhupe Rustum Nikle :) I always knew it :D
I would like Sf giants to win but the Angels are too deep in their pitching.
Personally I am just figuring out the game itself. Initially I thought it will be easier to hit the ball, compared to cricket, because the ball keeps in the air all the time, like a full-toss... but batting with a round bat is not easy. So I'd say this is also a fun game.
Giants is a good team, though I never thought Bonds is a particularly shiny example of a team player. But he has been the corner-stone of these Giants. You guys won't believe the celebrations in San Francisco yesterday. The match was a thriller and thus the pent up nervousness turned into roars of celebrations at the bottom of the ninth. Even for someone who is just starting on this, it was pretty darn decent. :)
Angels were never the favorites. The way they routed Yankees really brought them to the forefront. Previously not people even knew Angels team. They were under-rated even in their own city. Can't beat that, can you. :)
Anyway, it will be a fun World Series.
Great analysis 5Abi, can't wait for the first match.
I like the chances of SF but Anaheim will win.
Those who have problems with Baseball per se or have no clue about the game, may please head over to the other thread which talks about popularity of baseball vis a vis other sports.
This thread is for those who are actually following the Championship and now the World Series and wish to post articles or personal insights.
Thanks.
Most of the home runs for Giants came by Bonds this year and thats why they are so ahead.
I want to see if Adam Kennedy can keep up to his promise.
I am still amazed by the 3 home runs he hit in the last game.

Angels have the 20 year old rookie sensation Fransicso Rodriguez and also leagues premier closer Troy Percival. Its fun to watch the concentration and determination in Percivals eyes when he comes to pitch during 8th/9th innings. This will be a memorable series :D
Go Halos !
WOW!
I didn’t know there was this many baseball fans in Gupshup, keep it up :k: :k:
Game 1 is tommorrow in Anaheim, can't wait!

Game 6: 10/26, 5PM PST* • at Angels
Game 7: 10/27, 5PM PST* • at Angels
*--if necessary
Game 1: Giants win 4-3
Barry Bonds started by hitting HR in 2nd. :k:
Great game, SF already gaining the advantage in this series, Anaheim now have to work hard since their next game will be at home and after that their next 3 games will be in SF, so they have to win the next one.
Angels played bad. Giants bullpen got the better of them in this game.
Felix Rodriguez, Tim Worrell and Robb Nen got the final 10 outs without giving up a hit.
On the other hand, In seven at-bats with runners in scoring position, they had one hit. They twice stranded a runner at third base with one out.
Barry bongs didnt beat the Angels, despite too much hype. They restricted him to a solo home run. In any case, well played Giants. :k:
Game 2 on Sunday is a must win situation for Angels.

Angel fans had Edison Field rocking.

Barry Bonds admires his second-inning home run.
I agree it wasn't Bonds HR that won them the match, other people should also give credit to other players around him, specially JT Snow, who took that brilliant catch and scored a 2 run home run. Bond is good but sometimes I feel he gets more credit than he deserves.
:-/
Game 2: Angels win 11-10
After 0-5 at the end of 1st, it was all set for a high-scorer and Giants were on the receiving end but they did very well to pull back to a lead.
Ah well!
