Amir Sohail - kub sudhre gaa!/ PCB Warns feuding quartet

Having said that he was the best opening batsman along with Saeid, Pakistan have ever seen. And personally I think he was the most stylish batsman of Pakistan, far better than Majid Khan.

But his attitude during his cricketing career has always raised the eyebrows of not only the other team players but his fellow team members too. Now, since he has a powerful seat which decides the future of youngsters, he is still showing his childish behaviour. Talking about the recent 22 probable players announced for NZ tour. He knows the rule very well, thats what he claims. But not consulting with Salim Yousuf and Shoaib Mohammed, let alone the coach and captain, is simple redicilous. Not having MK or RL as authentic wicket keeper is another sin that he commited. I think he has shown his mental illness just in 6 months, that prooves that he cannot be qualified for any authoritative position in future. He likes to go alone, leaving everyone behind. Cricket in Pakistan cannot be run like this. There are plenty of skillfull ppl waiting to take on this job.

I have seen Majid Khan play, the guy had class, grace and style, Amir will never even come close to his class.

OK, Ehsan bhai, I will agree with you. May be I was big fan of Aamir's style and fearless and aggressive batting, so rated him above Majid.

May be he shouldn't be "Chief" Selector... only "Selector" like Shoaib Mohammed and others so he doesn't have the "power" which has made him go wild.

Knowing Amir from his younger years...when he used to play in the streets of shad bagh and wasan pura lahore, he will never straighten out. He will always be prone to favoritism and pre arranged selections.

Kabhi nahi sudhrey ga

i say get rid of him and bring in someone with more credibility. Saeed Anwar is more deserving.

But at the same time he is the only selector whose team has shown some results.....in a long time.

Kabhi Nahi Sudhrey Gaa! The only thing that we can do is kick him out!

yes but he is not the ONLY man responsible for that, Miandad, Rashid Latif and now Inzimam and youhana are also respnsible for that but he acts as if he is the only one responsible for that feat.

Agreed, while Sohail and his team of selectors brought in the new players it was Miandad and Rashid who moulded them into a fighting unit. Spotting talent is one thing, converting that raw talent into a fighting unit is quite another. Also lets not forget that Sohail was quick to criticise the coach for any players failure, so therfore any success of the team should also go to the coach and the captain.

^^ oh yeah. When he criticized Miandad, it was a very very unfortunate incident and a person holding such a reponsible position should have the common-sense to refrain from that.

Looks like hes still holding grudge from his previuos partnership with Miandad when Miandad was coach and he was captain. Both fell out publicly and same thing happened. Miandad was irritated by his lone decisions in the team strategy.

Though i must add here that Miandad should also not lower himself to Aamir's standards and try not to go public like he did.

The Game Responds:

*Oh come on! We all know who was the better half of that opening partnership you so gladly talk about! I still remember Saeed smashing every ball he can to the boundary with pure class, and this guy's display of what an ordinary batsman he was. Really. People, That Is All.*

Aamer Sohail may be the cheif selector right now, but I don;t see it lasting with antics like this. The fool has isolated himself from everyone starting from Inzi , Ramiz Raja and Miandad and ending with Tauqir Zia who brought Moin Khan back in. I don't see th favouratism in this, it is just stupidity. The guy has nothing but enemies.

how can u pick a team without consulting with the captain? he is the guy who’s going to have to deal with the group of players directly on and off the field… he should have say in the selection simply for the greater good of the team and for positive results… politics aside, its just a poor cricket decision :nook:

Pakistan’s uneasy alliance](BBC SPORT | Cricket | Pakistan's uneasy alliance)

I think more professionalism is required to exploit the skills of the players

It will come as a surprise to no-one in Pakistan cricket circles selector Aamir Sohail has clashed with coach Javed Miandad.

The latest in a series of fall-outs came after a squad was chosen for the forthcoming one-day series against New Zealand without Miandad and skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq being consulted.

“Why this insistence on trying to ignore and snub us? What is wrong if they just discuss things with us?” said Miandad.

Frustratingly for Pakistani fans this has happened at a time when things are finally looking promising.

They have just won a Test series against South Africa, but there is no time to bask in the glory of that.

Unlike the disagreements that presumably exist within most other Test nations, any lack of harmony is usually brought to the surface in Pakistan.

Former all-rounder Asif Iqbal sympathises with Miandad.

He told the BBC Sport website: "It’s become a bit of a dictatorial policy.

"The selection committee are saying ‘We think this is the team to take onto the field’ and there is the coach saying ‘Hold on I think there are other things that need to be discussed.’

"Javed, in his role as a coach, has done exceptionally well - there has been a total turn around in performance since he has taken over.

“The selection committee should have at least taken some input from Javed even if they were not prepard to consult with him.”

“It’s hard for him to get the best out of players he is not confident in.”

Tension between Miandad and Sohail goes back to 1996 and the post-World Cup fall-out.

Vice-captain at that point, Sohail said the team would fare better now that Miandad - who had just retired - was “no longer there to meddle in team affairs.”

Two incidents from September 1998 show further frostiness. By now, Miandad was coach, with Sohail as captain.

Salim Malik and Ijaz Ahmed - who were being investigated for alleged match-fixing - were named in the Pakistan side.

Miandad insisted both men were “not guilty” at a news conference.

Sohail, the man who had blown the whistle, sheepishly sidestepped the issue when asked about it.

Soon, however, Sohail became irritated by Miandad’s insistence on having a say on the minute aspects of captaincy.

Journalist Asish Shukla wrote at the time: “The mix is rather incendiary. By nature, each of these two wants to be top dog, he wants to be the sole boss. To work in tandem does not come easy to either of them.”

Predictably, they fell out in a highly-publicised row after defeats at home to Australia and Zimbabwe.

Tempting fate, the Board appointed Miandad and Sohail in a second partnership after the 2003 World Cup debacle.

Miandad was keen to play a role in selection discussions but his wishes were not granted.

Sohail, meanwhile, also spends time commentating on matches, a fact not lost on Asif.

"In that position he is always analysing the performance of the players or the tactics employed by their coach.

“There is a conflict of interests.”

So there is, but the Board will not stop it happening, given that their own chief executive Rameez Raja is also allowed to air his views behind the microphone.

he is an old idiot.. so woh nahin soodraay gaaa...

lagta hai apney zamanay k badlay chun chun karle raha hai;)…

:smack:

I think people need to be fair when handing out praise and criticism. While Amir is an idiot who opens his mouth every chance he gets the main problem is between Amir and Miandad's ego. Many people have not criticized Miandad for that simply because he was a great batsman. Every time Miandad has been the coach he has had problems. He needs to realize his playing days are over and its perfrectly ok for the captain to discuss things with him but he does not get the final say. Amir on the other hand wants all the power and rub it into Miandad as to who is the boss by not consulting him. They can take this tussle else where cause it aint doing any good to Pakistan cricket.

Given the history between the two players I think it was stupid to put them in this position to begin with. I dont know if one of them has to go or if PCB is going to try and have both of them sit togather and work things out (which is highly unlikley). They both think their knowledge of cricket is impeccable, while for Miandad this might be true but he also needs to keep his ego in check.
