So his announcement to oppose the impeachment either:
a) vindicates Zardari, the PPP and PML[N] as far as not making him the PM, because of his ties with Mushy (Khawaja Asif already mentioned that)
b) the fact that he is very very disgruntled with the party, but thats unlikely because he kept on saying how he will always be part of PPP blah blah and would never quit
Either way, I am glad he wasnt made the PM, it would have strengthened Musharraf.

Agreed. Problem with Amin Fahim is that he is still living in era of 90's. He has not reconciled his position for the continuous changing political scene. Had he be given position of PM, he would have been worst PM. Under the circumstances Gilani is still the best option.

Amin Fahim is a weak politician with compromising nature. He does not know where to apply brakes. If he tries to oppose impeachment, his fate will not be different than Khar, Mumtaz, Pirzada , Sherpao, Faisal Saleh Hyat and many ex PPP stalwarts.

You should appreciate fahim's courage for saying and standing for what he feels. Does anybody seriously believ zardari and nawas are better than musharaf, granted all three are crooks (though I can't quite convince myself that Musharaf is a crook)

Right, and when some politician does the same, i.e. show courage and standing against Musharraf they are thugs, revenge seekers right? Musharraf is not just a crook, he is a war criminal.

Do you really think Makhdoom would've separated from the party if he was the PM? I don't believe any of the 3 are good for Pakistan.

If McDooms only doing it as revenge, then he has ground but if hes doing it for his love for Mushy, then hes McDoomed as far as his credibility and popularity is concerned!

Its one thing to say that "I oppose the impeachment because I believe Musharaf is the best hope to stabilize the country", and quite another to say "I will do to the party, what the party did to me!"
There are no principles involved in this stance. Just a "I am mad as hell".
Seems Amin Faheem's decision-making is not based on judgement about the issue and whats good for the country (which ever way he decides is not really the point), but rather on how he can exact revenge for not getting the nod to become the Prime Minister. Very very childish, IMO.

theres rumours.. and then theres rumours. this one is published (without attribution) in two newspapers, and a book, with seperate sources. if we buy every denial then we have alhamdulillah been blessed with some of the best, most corruption free leaders in history
