There’s sticking an apostrophe in then there’s insultive. ![]()
It’s a bit of class and oh so ironic but then again you’re famous for not getting it, irony too.

amreekan is not a problem, because that is the proper word to refer to americans in Urdu, just like francisi is for french..
[/QUOTE]
I thought the word for French in Hindi/urdu was Firangi.

The Forum is called Gupshup (meaning chitchat), predominantly for people with Pakistani heritage in one way or another.
If you don't like what you see and read, then move own. Nobodies forcing you to stay.
Amerikkkans will always be Americans.
Frigging crybabies. Always want to be right and get their own way, if not start sulking.
Get a life.

Sholay, that is the most retarded comment of the thread. Part of what makes Gupshup interesting and great is that we have people from different perspectives and countries. Why do you want the Americans out? So you could complain and bash without anyone stopping you?
We can't let narrowmindedness get in the way. There are good Americans and bad ones..just like Pakistanis.

I could be wrong but I believe the following words were used by Mughals:
Angrez - English
Firangi - French
Wallandez - Dutch

Why am I not surprised at your comments?

Good on you RF. If this site is only for Pakistanis, let the Admins declare that and we would be gone.
Farangi = european

Hey don't blame me for your narrowmindedness. Don't even try to judge my commitment to Islam & Pakistan. Frankly, if exclusionary people like you got your way on Gupshup I'd be the first to leave even before the Americans, Indians etc.
I always thought "farangi" is for any foreigner. Never heard that its restricted just for the French. Not sure.

Arvind, like I said, there are good Pakistanis and bad. Don't let the words of a few stop you from coming here.

The word Firangi comes from Mughals. The first forenwalle who visited Mughal darbars were French not English. In fact Portugese and French sent wakils to Mughals long before English did. So it stands to reason they began calling French Firangis and in fact porbably applied that word to all foreigners.

Thanks for the history lesson, but this is basically what I thought all along.
Farangi is a most beautiful part of Crete, I was there last summer. I think Farangee in Urdu means "white" foreigner. Francisi is for French.

Ouch!
Was a sore nerve touched or did I speak the truth? You decide.
Please have a good think, before you respond.

What can I say, I know the whine game. I don't want people who share your thoughts to be excluded from Gupshup, either. Calling for exclusion is rich espicially when your profile claims that you are from the UK. Do you want to be excluded from the UK? How would you feel if some NF thug said the same to you? Tolerence is a two way street.

My friend. I could be from Timbuktoo, because it really doesn't make any difference to me.
The fact is that the origin of this post had a sulking feel and description to it for having the term Amerikkkan being used rather than American, which in turn was perceived to be derogatory. Some of us don't agree with this sulky, get your own way attitude, because we believe in sticks and stones breaking bones and also feel that it's the arrogance that most US residents possess because they feel they are always right, must be followed and the whole world evolves around them. This is a fallacy that unfortunately you Americans have so hard in the past tried to ram down the worlds throat. You've got no-one but yourselves to blame for the repercussions?
Additionally a lot of respondents posted comments on the issue who have no connection to Pakistan and were whining and asking for it to be changed on one hand , but were also slating the people who were not budging on the other. These posters know who they are and usually do have hidden agendas.
So, as I said, if people are not happy here, then don't come here. It's as simple as that.
The issue is not about tolerance, but on the contrary. It's about choice!
Freedom of Choice, Freedom of Movement and Freedom of Speech.
In your country it's called the First Amendment!
