This is a topic about Americas wars, something which Pakistan supports. So is it incorrect that Pakistan and the ISI helped create the Taliban but then turned on them when pushed to do so by George Bush and his cronies?
Why is it incorrect? Pakistan and ISI supported Taliban to get control over Afghanistan and also because ISI at that time was infiltrated by Taliban-minded people. It was due to Zia.
It is not the case anymore. Most people with such mentality have been removed.

You say the Taliban does not represent Islam but many Pakistanis would disagree, the proof of that lies in the support they recieve from the people.

Why would you trust them? Is it because their radicalism gives people like you an easy target to demonize Islam and Muslims?
Many Pakistanis believed in them in the beginning due to their outward appearance. But later their policies and their actions confirmed that they are just radicals who have not much idea about Islam.

As for Kashmir, I imagine they want Independence for the same reason other peoples like the Bangladeshis wished for it, but that has little to do with Americas war.

If this is what you think then you don't know much about India itself. Forget understanding Pakistan. Try understanding your own country's history first.

So many of the problems Pakistan faces today are home grown problems caused by segments of their own authorities and now the whole country is paying for them. Now the question is when and how did this policy actually shift against the Taliban and why? Was it down to the wishes of the Pakistani people or was it due to intimidation from the Americans when Richard Armitage a senior American politician threatened to bomb Pakistan back into the Stone Age.
So Khoji what do you think of Pakistani support of the American fight againt the Taleban? Do you opposse it or do you support it ?

I beg your pardon, when have I demonized Muslims or Islam? I do not know how you have come to that conclusion, you do not know me and jumping to such conclusions is about as ignorant as assuming all Muslims are terrorists just because some indulge in terrorist activities.

Pakistanis never wanted to live under a govt like Taliban anytime. At least the majority. But the majority was supporting Taliban in Afg because they were believed to be on Pak's side because Pak ISI created them.
After 9-11 Pak tried hard to convince them to give up OBL but they refused. They became a liability. And Pak had to give up their support.
When Taliban stopped this support then they ganged up on Pak and started their terror campaign in Pak itself. This further alienated Pak majority from them.
Now you ask me personally if I support the war against Taliban. The answer is yes. I consider this war more of Pak's war. America's concern is not Taliban but Qaeda. They don't care about Taliban govt in Afgh. But Pak shouldn't take this risk and make sure that Taliban ideology is defeated.

Not you personally. But people like you believe the real Islam to be the one as represented by the most radical fanatics. This is common theme in the media around the world.
I can't really understand the Pakistani, American relationship. Many Pakistanis seem to hate the US and all things Western but at the same time Pakistan cooperates wholehartedly with the war on terror. A war which many Muslims say is in reality a war on Islam. If that is true then does that mean Pakistan is waging war with its own religion? Or is the war on terror (a war which Pakistan is an integral part) actually a just war or Jihad?
The people of pakistan do not want the american army or cia etc in their country and have no love for the american policies.
This is america's war not pakistans. The government of pakistan is very much a puppet regime which doesn't not represent any of the people except the political elites and thier cronies.
The army of pakistan is being used by the americans to kill other muslims in afghanistan plain and simple.

Again what do you mean by like me? Just because I am a non-Muslim asking questions about Pakistan doesn't mean that I will accept Islam to be what it is portrayed by the right wing media. Likewise some extremist Muslim clerics will promote propaganda that all non-Muslim countries and people are immoral and corrupt but that doesn't mean ordinary Muslims cannot see though their trickery.

Now that is an opposing opinion and you are entitled to it. So do you see the Taleban and or the US as the real enemy? If this isn't Pakistans war then why do they use so many Pakistani resources and countless lives to support the Americans?
