Okay, so I was a TAD off-topic. :)
I think our parents paid for everything tiny thing we ate, drank and slept in while we were growing up, so now its our turn to do that. Right?
I dnt let my parents pick up the bill when we go out. I dnt let my little sister pay for herself when she is with me either. If we're out together, I pick up her tab. She is young, still studying and she doesnt have a job right now.
Friends, everyone pays for themselves but sometimes we treat each other too. :)
:biggthumb this is how it should be...and thats how it is in our family thank God. But being the youngest i still feel at times to pay since now i am also working and i have always got a good pocket money so i try and buy things for them at times..makes me happy :).

This American System works fine when you are out to dinners/lunches with co-workers but when it comes to family ofcourse this should never be the case. And even with friends one shoud take turns.

I have 2 younger bros and if I always pay they will kill me. so whenever we are together, we will just pick the tab here and there, I will get dinner, the younger one will get movie tix, youngest will cover cab or vice versa..its not a big deal

^ you r rite....but if the elder can afford than he should try and pay for all esp if the young ones are not earning. BUT what you just said is a good example of diving the cost afficiently.

its not abt who earns more but if the elder is earning enough to afford all the expenses without a problem than he should take it without thinking or wanting his younger to pay. But its the youngers duty too to chip in once in a while and if he is loaded than he should try and treat the other brother too....
C its not abt money but somethings just look good the way like this....like for example an elder wouldnt luk bad scolding u even for not a very good reason but if a younger person scolds an elder even for the rite reason it luks odd....get it? or dont i make any sense........oh well :D

I don't believe that the older sibling should pay all the time. At the end of the day siblings have their own lives to live and their own expenses to pay so why should the older one be lumbered with all of the expense of treating his younger siblings while they don't return the compliment?

Ok, has anyone been in a situation where they DO end up eating out in the company of someone very often, where the other person NEVER makes any effort to pick up the tab, not even a pretend "allow me", yet doesn't hold back on ordering tonnes?

^ Me too, unfortunately happen to be related, husband and wife team, professionals in the art of acquiring goods without paying their way. Thing is i wouldn't mind at all if i liked them and things were evened out in the long run, but the very fact that they are going out of their way to get out of paying whilst demanding the goods is what gets to me! Sneaky folks.
^ That happens the most..such people never hold back and order whatever they want..and pretend to be on the fone..or lost when the bill arrives.

I had one friend like that once . All of the friends in my group knew that he was poor therefore we would never mind or rub it in his face. Very smart and intellectual.
He is in America now and owns his own jewelry business. A rich guy.

I'm the youngest in my family as well and the only one working a full time job... and i took my whole family which included my sister her husband, my parents, and the neices and nephews to eat. My bro-in- law tried to pay but I had to really fight for it... i wanted to treat them!!!!
