err if this was a one off event, then maybe you could use that excuse. Bu this is one of a series of similar events, and its actually becoming a trademark of the US marines.. The perpetrators almost always get away scot free, so yes its is wholly representative of the US army, and not much different to the taliban on the moral scale. (were they even taliban?)

War is always horrible and should be avoided at all costs. Granted this behavior was not good. But for those of us living in the US, these are chidlren of our fellow citizens, who are being asked to bear a heavy burden with several tours of duty. Most of us are fortunate to have never seen war. I hope the kids (yes - these are 20-30 yr old kids) get to come back home, the war ends and we all go back to living without hate.
I am grateful to the soldiers for bearing a very heavy load - and wish when they come back home, we will take good care of them and secure their future.
Two wrongs do not make a right as someone said here. It is my hope all of us cut back on the rhetoric and do not inflame things further. The common person just wants food on the table, and does not care about the politicking. No more lives please.

I don't think we care entirely whose sons, and brothers they are. They are grown up enough to kill and maim, they are grown up enough to face the consequences. They ought to be hung, drawn and quartered...but knowing the US military, they'll be lucky if they get a slap on the wrist.

I don't think we care entirely whose sons, and brothers they are. They are grown up enough to kill and maim, they are grown up enough to face the consequences. They ought to be hung, drawn and quartered...but knowing the US military, they'll be lucky if they get a slap on the wrist.
I respectfully disagree. They have not been accused of killing and maiming - only of this act on the dead. The soldiers have a duty to perform. So I do not believe they should have to take undue punishment for just doing their duty.

I fully agree that this act was despicable. I have already said that in one of my earlier posts. (I agree this post was not clear, so my apologies).
I was referring to your pos tin which you were talking about hanging them for killing and maiming. I was just pointing out that soliders have to do their duty, and killing and maiming are unfortunately part of their duty.
And I was clumsily trying to make the point that for this particular act they did (I cant bring myself to type it out of respect for the dead), they dont deserve to be hanged.
The bigger point I was also trying to make was that at some point, each of us needs to soften our rhetoric so we can stop demonizing each other.
