American Idol 2008

One of this season’s biggest highlights will remain this guy Renaldo Lapuz and his audition at Dallas with his original composition “I am your brother”!
It’s even massive than William Hung, and it’s way way more outrageously fun and original! and not to say has great potential! :hehe:

How many are fans already!?

bow

It was up on Youtube, but freemantle claimed violation of copyright of course.

Re: American Idol 2008

omg that was so funnny lolz but no one tops william

Re: American Idol 2008

These two are amazing videos from American Idol on Renaldo Lapuz

Re: American Idol 2008

haha! Yea I remember watching that :D

Re: American Idol 2008

I love that song. He had a decent voice. I think he’s a lot better than William Hung.

have you heard the remix? The ghaana is so sincere. He’s sweet, I hope he makes millions off of it.

Re: American Idol 2008

^I hope so too! :D
This has become a big anthem and definitely makes one smile every time!

The top 24 week is on now.
All the 24 are pretty good this time.

Any particular ones to watch out for so far?

Re: American Idol 2008

Lets get serious now about the 24 or 20 remaining candidates. "You are my brother" is long gone now.

Anyway, is it just me, or this is perhaps the most talented group of AI contestants. Not only can these guys/gals sing really well, most of them are very very good looking. If this Idol thing doesn't work out, then that Luke guy can easily be in the movies replacing Patrick Dempsey. That David Anchilada (sp?) is extremely good. I don't think he will win, but he is good enough to be in top-6, unless he does a major screw up. That Aussie dude has a really strong voice too. The Filipina lady won't go too far, IMO.

Simon keeps saying that they are looking to identify the "best recording artist". I think thats not entirely true. People vote on the whole package, not just voice. This is not a radio show. I am pretty sure that face, body, personality, clothes, mannerism... everything is considered in voting.

Re: American Idol 2008

Exactly what I felt!

I agree Faisal bhai, this Archuleda kid is just 17 I think, and he is very very strong. Not a single negative point against him so far, young, big talent, clean image, well mannered, good looking and now getting very popular, he's got the biggest star quality so far i think, but he's very vulnerable too. He might get overconfident anytime and mess up. Lack of experience and the glitz might hamper his performance. He does surely deserve a place in top 6. The Aussie, the young dad, all are cool. I dont like that other guy who looks like Bruce Lee's non-athletic version. I think he has that Sanjaya effect going on and he might stay on for not much as a singer. Lets see.
Among the girls I think Kady Malloy was the strongest voice so far, she sang Phil Collins brilliantly, but the judges werent too excited, maybe because she was too "safe" and unexperimenting as they call it. But her voice is very rich. And she's pretty good looking adds more. Another cool girl is Kristy Lee, but only for her looks, as a singer she might just go a few weeks I think. The rocker nurse is confusng, the girl who had lost her dad before the audition is pretty good.

Re: American Idol 2008

this time guys are much better singers then girls...i was so dissapointed with some of the girl's.....that 16 year old kid is soo talented and also that 29 yrs old who sounds so professional

Re: American Idol 2008

The rocker nurse, Amanda Overmyer (sp?) is remarkable. I have not liked a single song she has sung. Perhaps I don't like that kind of meaningless rock. But judges absolutely love her. Also, her hairstyle on Wednesday was weird, but on Thursday she looked way better with longer hair. And when she rids of the dark lipstick etc, she is actually very innocent looking and quite pretty. Hopefully in some future genres we can see her sing something other than bla, blu, bla kinda rock.

Re: American Idol 2008

I like all the rockers this season. The guys definitely have an edge over the girls this season.

One girl who I wished was voted off instead of the plus sized model was the girl who sang Rescue Me. She was awful, but I think she got by based on her looks.

Re: American Idol 2008

Youre right Mehnaz.

Did you watch the guys yesterday?

This David Archuleda is phenomenal! He sang Imagine yesterday, completely changed it, and everyone loved it, it was flawless. Simon declared him the one to compete with and called all other lousy contestants. This kid has a big gift, I just hope he doesn't lose balance, it's very risky for him now.

Re: American Idol 2008

:D Its seems its more exciting than the german version.

Re: American Idol 2008

Actually Simon said that "there are 19 other miserable contestants tonight", which is actually quite true. In addition to being a phenomenal singer, David A is so likeable, cute and charismatic that he is getting millions of girl-votes by default. You can listen to John Lennon's Imagine on YouTube and compare it to David A's performance. The original is so powerful that it was really a risky move to sing it, but he one up'd the late legend on that one.

Amanda Overmyer and Luke Menard bit the bullet this time and were saved. But they have to improve considerably next week, or else they will be history too. Check out YouTube for Queen's Killer Queen and then you can see why Simon was critical of Luke's performance.

Apart from talent, I think the current lot is way too emotional. Looking at Danny Noreiga's face yesterday... the guy was tearful on the departure of 4 contestants. Alaine was bawling and that Filipino lady starts crying at the smallest excuse. What a bunch of crybabies. By the way, there is a video on YouTube that David A. is gay. Nothing surprising anyway, but more importantly it doesn't take anything away from his amazing singing talent.

Re: American Idol 2008

One of my favourite girls was voted off. I really liked Alexandrea Lushington. :frowning: I hope she makes it big outside of AI.

They should have gotten rid of Kady Malloy and Amanda Overmyer.

Re: American Idol 2008

Top 12 selected today. I missed it all this week, but a few glimpses of the elimination.

Re: American Idol 2008

Danny is gonE! I’m so happy, that guy was getting on my nerves. Its amazing how they are all sweet to Simon before they get in top 24 and after that attitude attitude attitude :S bohut acha hoaa!!! :snooty:

Re: American Idol 2008

I was relieved on his exit too! :D

Re: American Idol 2008

I am glad that homo guy is gone…it was hillarious how he often thumka maaring during his songs :hehe:

Re: American Idol 2008

Top 10 now. Kristy Lee Cook is in danger each time and is saved, why would anyone want gorgeous Kristy go! :D
