I think people just need to grow up and stop coming up with false reasoning and using dumb logic by making statements like, "Mirpuris are scum", "America is sick place", "British Pakistanis are extremists", "Canadians are dumb and nobodies" etc.
Why can't we address each issue without bringing in the stereotypes?

A state espousing any religion is not secular. Most western countries do not espouse any religion. And if they do, they are wrong as well. Your entire post is so obviously self contradictory its ridiculous.
Islam you say is the state religion, and religion by definition is perceived to be divinely ordained, but then you say that the state does not view it as divine, and yet believes it to be the state religion … 
So if the state does not view Islam as being divine, why does it make Islam the state religion? and if it is not divine according to the state, then where did it come from?
If Pakistan has survived this long, its thanks to the sanity purveyed through the presence of secular laws. Had it not been for the iota of secular thought that has existed, the entire country would have gone the way of Afghanistan long ago.
Pakistans refrences to Islam in the Constitution:
The name ‘Islamic Republic of Pakistan’ is selected for the state of Pakistan.
Islam is declared as the state religion of Pakistan.
Steps shall be taken to enable the Muslims of Pakistan, individually or collectively, to order their lives in accordance with the fundamental principles and basic concepts of Islam. (What about the Non Muslims?)
Steps shall be taken to make the teaching of the Qur’an and Islamiyat compulsory,to encourage and facilitate the learning of Arabic language and to secure correct and exact printing and publishing of the Qur’an.
Proper organisation of Zakat, waqf and mosques is ensured.

For the first time, the Constitution of Pakistan gave definition of a Muslim which states: ‘Muslim’ means a person who believes in the unity and oneness of Allah, in the absolute and unqualified finality of the Prophethood of the Islamic prophet, Muhammad, and does not believe in, or recognise as a prophet or religious reformer, any person who claimed or claims to be a prophet, in any sense of the word or of any description whatsoever, after Muhammad.

Its not the presence of Secular laws which has hindered Pakistan, its the presence of these “Islamic” Laws and provisions that has hindered and retarded the evolution of the nation. These so called Islamic laws have diluted the solid base on which Pakistan was founded and slowly eroded not only the state, but the sanity of its citizens.

Sorry I have no explanation for that but I also don't have any explanation for the complacency exhibited by Muslim leaders throughout the world. Unlike the US, they owe a duty to their brothers but there they are appeasing the US and giving in to their every demand. As I said, the US doesn't owe anyone anything and every superpower since the beginning of mankind has sought to look out for its own interests.

^ the debate was never about defending US foreign policy. The discussion revolved around this unhealthy dose of hatred possessed by many on the board, you know the ones not living in the US. People love love love to call the US out on everything wrong with this world and are eagerly anticipating its demise yet fail to comprehend how others are as much responsible for the ills of society. It's quite comical....I can just imagine these people chanting 'death to amreeka'.

the reason being the US foreign policy impacts a big population around the globe. The way the Americans are pursuing their interests in the world portray it as an arrogant bully to the others and is fueling anti Americanism, while they wonder why the world doesn't love them.

I would argue that just about ALL countries pursue their interests and portray themselves as arrogant and bullies to others. How is Pakistan any different from America in its pursuit of its interests? Perhaps the only real difference i believe, is not in the nature, but the scope of those interests and their pursuit..

Any person with simple observations can see pakistan is secular to the core its entire system was molded around british secular law since 1947.

examples of usury transactions, foreign multinationals owning natural resources, obscenity under freedom of speech all of which is still present in pakistan today no single person not even the most fanatical supporter of secularism or the politicians can deny this. Pakistan political system is secular which is biggest disaster for past 50 years + has bought nothing but misery to the country, proof of that it is underdeveloped and not progressing blame the system and yes its secularism.

it is merely a symbol of cultural identity, as was the case when Pakistan adopted the title.
the conditions which make an islamic state are simple the laws must be based on islam and the security of the land must be in the hands of the muslims currently it is in the hands of non muslims i.e United states of America. Pakistan does not fulfill any of these conditions as a result it is not an islamic state even though vast majorty of people want this. Its a country full of majority muslims ruled over by a disastorous secular system.

Pakistan is a poor amalgamation of an Islamic system and British common law. Its not the presence of secular laws however that have handicapped the country, its the presence of those “Islamic” laws that have done that.

Atleast we hear stories when these kind of incidents happen. In many countries these kind of abuses are swept under the carpet. In any country, there are idiots who do wrong things. It is only in good countries, these idiots are brought to justice.
