Also don't equate a highly developed country like the U.S with a third world country like Pakistan to make yourself feel better.
Highly developed or not is irrelevant. People are people & people do stupid things. In this case, this is a mostly ghetto area and this woman was attacked by bunch of punks from ghetto, and they will go to jail for long time as they should.

Sir mostly in America those who go to jail when the come out they commit the same crime for which they went to Jail for the first time and in USA 19000 Rapes take place every day that is their own government report not a conspiracy report buy some hardcore fundamentalist Muslim

I take comfort in knowing that none of those rape victims end up being charged with adulatory under hudood ordinance & attackers in most cases end up in jail.
Seriously! It’s easy to pull out random news items and gloat over how “sick” America is, but the ground reality is that this country is safer for women. I’ve lived as a single woman in various places in the US.. from a bustling metropolis to a small rural town, and never have I felt threatened or been harassed for being a woman. How many single women in Pakistan (or India) can say that?
No one is claiming that the US is crime-free. Of course not! But we live here with the reassurance of a good first-response system (911), support networks (shelters for women, homeless, helplines), a decent legal system, and most importantly, public support and sympathy for the victim of such crimes.
Well said Lucy.
Bechari women in Pakistan can’t even go to the local shop to get groceries or vegetables without being harassed…and that in a Muslim state!!!
Correction ... The WORLD is one sick place ... The confusion prevalent in this thread is "expected behaviour vs actual behaviour" ... For example it is not expected in the Haram Shareef that non-mahram man and women think about sex, let alone flirt with one another. If this happens it is a big shock. Likewise, if full on kissing happens on the streets of Venice it is considered normal practice.
In absolute terms they are both wrong ... A shooting in some Ghetto it is expected - if the same thing happens in the city of Bath it is not expected and considered worse.
However, in every clean place there is a speck of dust and in every dusty room there is a clean patch ... We have to make sure that we exploit the clean things by being clean and taking the idea of purity with us wherever we go.
Well said Lucy.

Sorry to say i disagree with you completely........This is not true ....May be you have seen the wrong Pakistan
Please get off your high horse. America has problems, just like any other country in the word, but I'd still pick this country over any of your Islamic heavens. At least, I won't be stone to death for expressing my opinion.
Abay tau Pakistani jhanda keu laga rakha hai? Hatado na.
believing that America is not a secure place to live as a result of this piece of news is like believing that Pakistanis are cannibals as a result of this type of news:
oh. Pakistanis just get defensive whenever their problems are mentioned, instead of acknowledging the problems, they just make excuses and comparisons with other countries. Just because a bad thing happens elsewhere, doesn't justify it hapenning in pakistan. Turning a blind eye and pushing the stuff under the carpet would only go so long. This mentality of the pakistani people is the reason that the country isn't improving.
