America has right to interfere in Pakistan's affairs...

Re: America has right to interfere in Pakistan’s affairs…

Your heart is in the right place, but unfortunately Pakistani circumstances aren’t where they ought to be.

Let me be the devil’s advocate for a moment and ask you this:

USA wants to deal with Pakistan. Who are they going to dialogue with or rather “bribe” to have their way? Not the public. Because every nation seeks to deal with a representative. Unfortunately, Pakistani representative at the moment seem to be the pocket liners. So along comes USA with its carrot and stick and the Pakistani representatives accept the terms. Sure, the public might not like it but then again public isn’t coming out in droves to protest it either. If the same momentum that was found during Judiciary restoration was found on all current matters which are disliked, you would see results.

But here’s the thing: Those leading the momentum at the time have gone quiet because they’ve been served with their demands. Aitzaz Ahsan is now pretty much a part of PPP. CJ is doing his job to the extent he can possibly do it without rocking the boat and risk sinking it altogether. Political leaders are either part of the Govt. or don’t want to disturb the Govt because they want their turn soon.

Leaderlessness is the illness facing Pakistan. Sincere representatives aren’t present, so USA is having its’ own demands met. If circumstances change, perhaps Pakistan will stop accepting the aid (according to the wishes of Pakistani public) and USA will have little or no leverage. Then Pakistan can flip off disliked policies or terms and go about its own way.

We’ve got a bit of a way to achieve that still. Till then I’m afraid Pakistani representatives will keep accepting aid and USA will keep dictating and micromanaging Pakistani affairs.

It’s bitter, but it is what it is, as it is at the moment. We can all hope for it to improve but without sincere representation that’s a stark chance.
