AMD processors

Can someone brief us about difference AMD processors and their level of quality especially if we want to campare it with Intel.

Like we know that Intel has intel celeron or intel original etc. I know has AMD has named different processors but I dont know which processor is of what quality.

Thanks in adv.

Re: AMD processors

Sempron is Celeron
Athlon is pentium
Athlon X2 is pentium dual core
Athlon X2 II is core duo
and then there is phenom X3 and X4 having 3 and 4 cores respectively which can be compared to quad core CPUs from intel

AMDs are little slower but are much cheaper and best value for money.

*PS: Intel and AMD chips cant be compared technically as they both have different architecture*s

Re: AMD processors

^what he said :)

Re: AMD processors

adding to what lafanter said, AMDs are easily overcloackable but depending on the motherboard bios options.

Re: AMD processors

^ old news man, now intel’s are much easier to over clock using just a stock fan, no need to add cooling hardware :hehe:

Re: AMD processors

^^ try some xtreme over clocking u will still need the water cooler ;)

i’ll agree

my current processor is E5200 (2.5 ghz) and i overclocked it @ stock cooler @ 3.25 ghz with little to no difference in tempreture. Its been stable since 4 months now and going strong.

instead of liquid nitrogen

yeh cheez :lifey:

LOL  may be silicon mixed :stuck_out_tongue:

How about "amd turion" dual core? (well dual core i understand), but how is the quality of turion?

Re: AMD processors

its a mobile processor.

Re: AMD processors

Is a motherboard and mainboard the same thing? And yeah I have an AMD Turion processor… erm it keeps dying :bummer:

Re: AMD processors

^yup

Re: AMD processors

aah see.. my laptop died on me AGAIN last week.. luckily its insured but this is the SECOND time they have replaced the 'mainboard' - im guessing its not good then :(

Re: AMD processors

processor is different from the mainboard.
if they install a new mainboard its fine i guess.

Re: AMD processors

erm.. ok. leaves the thread before making an even bigger fool of oneself

Re: AMD processors

no that was fine lolz
we’re here to help :phati:

Re: AMD processors

lol :cb: so erm what could be the possible reasons for the mainboard dying :halo:

I've just made my uncle buy a HP notebook having AMD turion dual core. Is it a bad purchase? While its already done, what precaution can be taken to handle it gently and carry it over to next few years?
