I’m not making excuses for them. I’m pointing out that there is a rhyme and a reason to everything-- why certain women do it and others do not. Trying to understand the motivation and mindset is not the same as condoning it.

Likewise, a “welfare society,” and opportunities don’t negate the prevalence of sexual abuse and assault in this country, and how it directly correlates to interactions in the commercial sex industry. Though, if you’d rather write them all off as ravenous harlots and ignore the very real and pervasive fact that there a serious issue that the industry needs to address to prevent these things from happening, then be my guest. It certainly makes it easier to paint things black and white.

Men in the industry are far, far less likely to have been initially victimized and coerced into the industry than women are. Women are at a disadvantage when it comes to these issues, and a notion of common sense would affirm that.

Opportunity doesn’t supersede the effects of sexual assault, and a very high number of women in this country experience it. And as I said before, a majority of women in the commercial sex industry were sexually assaulted before they entered it. Coincidence? But I guess we can just reject all of these studies, interviews and other interactions and dismiss reality because we’re intellectually lazy.

Of course there are exceptions to this, but exceptions do not make the rule. Because a handful of more well known women having some sort of porn “celebrity,” status seem to be psychologically stable and having full consent – and furthermore, enjoyment for what they do, a great number don’t. Having said that, I personally know women who were in the commercial sex industry, and after having left it, were able to affirm exactly what these studies suggest-- pornography by and large is a very, very bad thing.

So you’re saying a roaring multi billion dollar industry is by and large built around women who suffered sexual assault? Pray do tell, what is the link between being victimized and coerced into the industry? Is it their notion of common sense again, ‘omgz I’ve been sexually assaulted now I’d rather work for a high paying porn movie than the burger joint down the road’?

There’s a huge difference between working girls who have been forced into prostitution and these pornstars. Looks like you’re too intellectually lazy to tell the difference. Women are sexually assaulted in all countries, not just the US. The rule of the porn industry is simple, where there is demand there will be supply. These women are there for the money and they probably enjoy it too. Stems from a lack of morals. Daddy issues perhaps, but no one is forcing them into the industry…they are there by their own free choice and I have no sympathy for them. I’m not going to sit around and psychoanalyse them because they have all the opportunities in the world to do what they want, this is what they chose.
