By trying to impeach Musharraf instead of restoring the Judges the political parties are accepting him as a legal President. Should the impeachment drive fail then Musharraf will have effectively been confirmed as the President by the National Assembly. The Judges issues then becomes a non-issue even if the Judges are restored and Musharraf can continue for 5 years.
Re: Alternative view on impeachment
Till now i beleive Zardari is trying pull out another topi drama

You are absolutely right that if Musharaf gets a vote of confidence from the Parliament, then the judges issue will go away too. Problem is that its not gonna happen. I doubt impeachment will ever get to a vote. Writing will be on the wall in the days leading up to the impeachment vote. Expect a deal! :-)

Remember, the current govt took oath from this president too, so in a way he is "legit" atleast for them.

There is rummer that as many as 25 MPs form PPP have formed forward block led by Amain Fahim & they will not support the impeachment motion.

daz great!
Rumors are spread by vicious people. I doubt that Amin Fahim will kill his political career by doing so. There were lots of speculations by experts in this forum about coalition; all those speculations had proved wrong. Mush has to leave or face marshal law. Pick your chose.
Re: Alternative view on impeachment
If the alternative view is correct then Zardari would ensure that Musharraf wins, and the rest is just a drama. The upside is that the Judges can be restored without any controversy.

that's what i believe

There are lots of ifs and buts in your speculations which show how rumors are manufactured in your rumor factory and how cycle of vicious circles can be perpetuated.
You are forgetting the wishes of people and staunch opponents of Mush, NS of PML (N) and PPP. Let me try this, what if Uncle Sam also wanted him to be out because his warranty has already expired and living on borrowed time?
Re: Alternative view on impeachment
I guess, Zardari is serious in impeaching Musharaf, by removing Musharaf, People of Pakistan will consider it a a achievment by Zaradari and PPP's popularity graph will grow, on the other hand, the lawyers movement will loose its light for a while, which give Zardari enough time to break the judges.
Let see where does this drama goes.
Re: Alternative view on impeachment
I think enforcing article 58-2(b) is the right solution at this time… :k: ![]()
Re: Alternative view on impeachment
MY opinion is... Mushy would do a GREAT favour to Pakistan if he uses 58-2(b) - desolve the parliament. Then reverse the November 3 NRO - meaning put Zardari and Nawaz either in jail or extradite them. Then reinstate the judges back to normal, and then put in legislation banning zardari and all other corrupt people from participating in elections, bring in a new selected people to run the government in emergency and then either resign.
Atleast this way many people will be happy that PPP is out of power and if elections held again, I am sure PPP wont get as much votes.
Allah hafiz
Re: Alternative view on impeachment
All of you who are waiting with baited breath for Zardari to let Mushy win, must be extremely disappointed today when Zardari made very serious allegations of financial irregularities against Mushy (that Mushy has embezelled 70 crore dollars of US aid meant for fighting terrorism). Personally I think Zardari is blowing smoke (its not easy hiding 70 crore dollars), but regardless, this will further muddy the already very murky political waters in Pakistan and make things even nastier.
Re: Alternative view on impeachment
Both the spokesmen of the PML[N] and PPP have repeatedly said that they have the numbers, and with the forward blocs offering them support, I am sure Zardari and NS know what they are doing, though I agree with arshad, going ahead with the impeachment, they are taking a risk.

Great, but let me point out some things that dont make sense...
i) Its not that easy, without the army and the khuda at the white house agreeing, there is no 582b
ii) How will nawaz go back to jail, since he was not a NRO beneficiary. That would just make things bad for Zardari and the MQM
iii) Musharraf reinstating the judges, you have got to be kidding me
iv) You think he'd do all that just so he can resign?
Re: Alternative view on impeachment
if impeachment goes ahead, first he will survive or use the 52 b . He may also have to go after that. following 52 B a new national government and then election will be on the cards.
Re: Alternative view on impeachment
Musharaf may have lost face and the popularity contest but Sharief is a buffoon but Zardai can cause irrepairable damage to. Pakistan. Watch out.
