Altaf steps down as party chief/ takes his resignation back (updated)

Re: Altaf steps down as party chief/ takes his resignation back (updated)

Mostly it will be vice versa.

Re: Altaf steps down as party chief/ takes his resignation back (updated)

Evaluate yourself Shawaiz_k, thats by far the best evidence I can provide you to demonstrate Pathans' intolerance toward Mohajirins.

Re: Altaf steps down as party chief/ takes his resignation back (updated)

*RestLess~ You said:No matter how much we twist it around, truth of the matter is, **after the independence of Pakistan, Muslims who migrated from India faced immense discrimination and suppression from rest of the Pakistanis, specifically, Panjabis and Pathan

Don't circumvent my question, tell us how were they discriminated by the locals.

Re: Altaf steps down as party chief/ takes his resignation back (updated)

Let me add my honest observation. Pakistani people are in general very discriminative. They would even discriminate based on complexion, ethnicity, and religion and even based on physical condition of a person. Imagine someone who is kaala, ganja or missing something, go through so much discrimination and is called with names. This is our true nature.
Same goes with Muhajirs. No doubt that they have been discriminated by local throughout Pakistan. I have witnessed myself when I was young and grew up in Punjab. Muhajirs were looked upon as if they were second-class citizens. Look at our history; based on discrimination, we ended up loosing East Pakistan. Begalis were never considered good enough as compared to West Pakistanis. Thanks to Bhutto who decided not to accept Mujeeb's clear victory in general elections.

The only concern I personally have with MQM is their leadership. Altaafa majj is a criminal and have his hands colored in so much blood. With some education and more open mind, I personally don't like the idea of calling anybody muhajir. They are all Pakistanis and in fact they should be treated with more dignity knowing the fact what they all went through by leaving their homes behind, all the sufferings they took. Heads off to all who migrated from India. MQM is openly known to do the killings etc and that is not acceptable. They should be part of all mainstream political parties in Pakistan and should work to change our system.

Re: Altaf steps down as party chief/ takes his resignation back (updated)

I agree Jaadugar. It's been 60years since the formation of Pakistan, lets all just be Pakistanis. And the struggle of Muhajirs is to be acknowledged, no doubt about it. But, who represents them makes a huge difference. Altaf Hussain like criminals cannot and should not be allowed to speak for some of the most educated urdu speaking people.

I believe they deserve better leadership, and i've always said if it wasn't for Altaf Hussain, MQM would probably accel and become a major national political party. It's time that they dump their flawed leadership and choose wisely a very candid leader who truly represents them and most important of all, is a Pakistani citizen. Is present in the country to speak for and account for his/her party, and not dictating terms and giving telephonic speeches over the phone.

It's ridiculous that all the political affiliates are within the country, and MQM being a unique political party should have its leader outside Pakistan. What for? Why doesn't he return to his country and represent his "people" that he so emotionally claims to be attached to.

Re: Altaf steps down as party chief/ takes his resignation back (updated)

This kind of discriminations are found in every society and culture, and Pak is no exception.

Re: Altaf steps down as party chief/ takes his resignation back (updated)

shawaiz, yes it must be found among all societies and countries but the magnitude varies. Like here in the US, discrimination does exists but not at the level that it's generally observed or felt. Forget about the redneck states, in most cosmopolitans, life is quite normal. Imagine life of a bhanggi/jamadaar in Pakistan. What kind of treatment the person gets? Imagine the inferiority inflicted from the word “choorha”. So lets live up to the fact and admit that we people are far worse than these Westerners...

Re: Altaf steps down as party chief/ takes his resignation back (updated)

Jaadugar,

Here I agree with shawaiz_k. Hindus are most discriminated people than any other community in Pakistan. Read following and tell me is there any justification for this barbarianism against most peaceful minority in Pakistan? This is highly condemnable act:

Factory worker lynched for ‘blasphemy’

By Imran Ayub

KARACHI, April 8: A man was beaten to death by his co-workers here on Tuesday for blasphemous remarks allegedly made by him about Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The incident took place in a leather garment factory in Sector 15 of the Korangi Industrial Area, after a discussion about religion became heated.

The deceased was identified as Jagdeesh Kumar, 22, of Mirpurkhas.

“We have been informed that some blasphemous remarks made by Jagdeesh angered other workers,” said a police officer.

“They kept beating him for almost half an hour and left him only after someone pointed out that he had died. Police reached the place after they were called by someone in the factory.”

He said the atmosphere in and outside the factory was highly charged and it was a tough task for police to take the body out of the factory.

“We have moved the body to the Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy,” said SP Farrukh Bashir. He said that no-one had been detained for questioning.

“We can take action only after a case is registered and a conclusion is reached on the basis of the autopsy report and investigations,” he said.

An official at the JPMC said the body bore marks of severe torture, but there was no injury indicating that sticks, bricks and iron rods had been used.

He said that it appeared to be a case of ‘intentional murder’, rather one of death in a brawl.

One of the investigators, who met some members of the victim’s family after the incident, said they were not ready to accept the reason being given for the killing of Jagdeesh.

“The case must be investigated and his co-workers should be taken into custody and interrogated, because no-one can even think of uttering blasphemous remarks against the Prophet in a Muslim society,” the official quoted a close relative of the victim as saying.

Like police, the family also believed that the murder had nothing to do with religion. It could have been the result of a personal feud. Raju, brother-in-law of the victim, told Dawn that the case should be properly investigated.

“Jagdeesh was a simple man who knew little about religion. He had come to Karachi to earn a living and not to indulge in debates over religion. And it is easy to kill a member of a minority community and then accuse him of uttering blasphemous remarks. And that it is why there is need for a proper and thorough investigation,” he said.

“Even if it is a case of blasphemy it should be brought to court,” said Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, renowned Islamic scholar and chairman of the Ruet Hilal Committee.

“In Pakistan there has been no such case of blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by a member of a minority sect, nor we (Muslims) ever did any such thing against other religions.”

He said the incident should be investigated in a transparent manner to determine the actual reasons behind the murder and not to allow anyone to take the law into his own hands

Re: Altaf steps down as party chief/ takes his resignation back (updated)

^^ what kind of supporters?

Murderers, looters???

Altaf can not resign for a technical resign, i.e., if he resigns, who will pay bills for his stay in London, as i know that he is jobless and is not capable of doing anyother job... not even a peon.

So let being a chair (man) of a terrorist organization suits him and his needs...

SUGGESTION for Altaf:
Next time instead of resigning, please call for hunger strike, this will surely touch the heart of supporters and will also save lots of food , which will have a direct effect on supply demand situation of wheat and rice crisis... moreover, he may loose some weight....

Re: Altaf steps down as party chief/ takes his resignation back (updated)

pride, that is exactly my point. please read again what I said above. shawaiz_k is saying that discrimination is common among all societies in the world not only in Pakistan. I said that discrimination and racism is more widely observed among us Pakistan than most other societies in the world. Something we all need to look upon and change our thinkings. But this happens with more education and civilisation. We are very sentimental people in large and often hold a destructive mind. Ever remember your childhood when someone broke a light bulb on the street just for fun? and in the consequence made the street darker.
Look at the latest examples of our society… Dr. Sher Afghan is mistreated in Lahore and some people are burnt alive in Karachi and cars/motor cycles owned by fellow citizens are set to fire. No toerance in us at all.
