This is a new development, one cannot know the motives or implications of. Are the motives a wedge between Nawaz and Zardari or something else?

Anyhow, he has the right to suggest Zardari and we should not be obcessed with Altaf Hussain to post the video above.

Every one looks for their own best interests.

Of course MQM's best interest is to create a split between PML(N) and PPP in the center, and then join PPP as a coalition partner there.

Altaf's statement, though, appears more like a taunt towards Zardari, essentially to say "bann ke dikhao President".

I have stated many times here since Feb 18th, that as soon as Mushy leaves office, PML(N) should split away from the coalition government and assume the role of an effective opposition. As a country, we can not afford all thieves to band together in the name of "coalition". An effective opposition is necessary. PML(Q) is very ineffective. Both PML's should unite. Next elections in 6-18 months. PML will come to power in the next election. PPP to be the opposition.

ISLAMABAD, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- A chief of former Pakistan's ruling party on Wednesday proposed that Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari be the presidential candidate.

Altaf Hussain, leader of the ethnic Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), told private Geo TV that Zardari was the right person for the presidential slot.

The ruling coalition, including the PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has remained divided over the presidential candidacy after former President Pervez Musharraf announced his resignation on Monday.

Under the constitution, the election of the president could be held within thirty days after Musharraf left his office.

Former ruling party MQM was defeated in the Feb. 18 elections and sat on the opposition bench.

Yeh siysaat hai .If you cant beat them join them wali baat hoti hai.But daku zardari sahab ko aur acha chance miol jaye ga Pakistan ko lootne ke liye ager woh president ban gaye to.Aisa hergiz nahi hona chaiyeh.Waise by the was ppp and pmln ne to wada kiya tha ke dr.qadir ko president banayen ge.Baat ko ghaeb ker diya hai.

Pakistan and Pakistanis deserve to have president from the largest party, Zardari is head of the party he should also head the country and drive this nation beyond horizons. He certainly has the capability to go beyond where no leader has gone before, all you need to think of horizon!
