Re: Altaf hussain arrested | Bail Rejected

There seems to be total apathy towards Altaf's arrest from common people of the city. It is as if they expected this to happen. I have yet to find someone who still respects or likes him.
None of his comrades said anything When Imran vehemently abused him on the media last year. To teach them a lesson Altaf had to bring his goons from S. Africa. They beat the most senior MQM folks like Farooq Sattar and Mustafa Kamal. Kamal eventually left MQM.

Based on such observations, it appears that Altaf's days may be over soon. His downfall will accelerate if he is arrested for murder rather than just "innocent" money laundering issue.

Re: Altaf hussain arrested | Bail Rejected

and yet they managed to close down several cities.

Those who are in a state of dharna do not like him? What is the purpose of protesting his arrest other than show your allegiance to him? Can he get free with protests and dharnas in Karachi and elsewhere in Pakistan? They are only showing their loyalty to the Don.

How about the massive ralies in support of the don which we saw only a few weeks ago. What about the don being father of nation? What about the city getting closed every now and then at the instructions of rabita committee in a matter of minutes because the Don felt insulted by someone? What about thousands of robots listening to him doing his khitaab every month? What about hundreds of thousands of his posters and banners being printed every year and stuck on public places for our viewing pleasure?

Such strong reaction from MQM shows that either the party is full of criminals who support the bigger criminal or the party is a mafia which HAS to support the Don, no matter what.

Either way, the crimes of lesser criminals cannot be underplayed by highlighting Altaf as the only bad guy.

Billions $ , Western support and establishment support

Re: Altaf hussain arrested | Bail Rejected

See the way MQM works, it does suppress a lot many people but also award many in terms of local jobs (like in city govt, national bank, other govt jobs etc) and share in other things. Those are mostly die hard fans and they are upset. But a real common man has taken a sigh of relief though scared of possible shutdown and other effects.
Another thing is, if MQM breaks into many pieces, who'll control the city?? Thats a milllion dollar question

Re: Altaf hussain arrested | Bail Rejected

There can be many reasons why his supporters show up. Some may do that for their own personal monetary benefits, some may be doing it out of fear, and some may be doing because they are themselves criminals.

"Either way, the crimes of lesser criminals cannot be underplayed by highlighting Altaf as the only bad guy."
The topic is about Altaf. So it is Altaf that will be discussed first.
people follow the leaders. Primary burden of crimes of a group rests on the shoulders of the leader who instigated other people in committing the crimes.
If MQM is full of goons, criminals and murderers then its leader is more responsible than anyone else for creating and nurturing such organization.

Re: Altaf hussain arrested | Bail Rejected

I saw a statement from Farooq Sattar yesterday, he said the events are 'na qabil e fehm'.
MQM is totally confused at the moment. Its leaders know they have to do something on his arrest (otherwise they fear another spanking from S. Africa), but they don't know exactly what to do.
So they have resorted to these dharna which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Dharna have been done in the past to pressure the government to take some action. Here they can't pressure British government by dharna in Pakistan.

True chaos in MQM. Everyone is out in dharna only to show their wafadari or loyalty to the Bhai.

Holding Karachi and other major cities of sindh as hostage because so called father of nation is arrested in UK is clearly a message to partners in crime to come for help or Karachi will burn.

Re: Altaf hussain arrested | Bail Rejected

Assuming money laundering cases work like murder cases, then he'll get a trial date within the six months of being arrested. He may get court appearance in within 12 weeks to confess whether he's guilty or not. I'm not a legal expert, but that's my understanding so far. However considering his bail got rejected, it can be treated as an indication the police has serious evidence against him and they consider him a threat to public. Usually it's people associated with crimes such as murder or those who are likely to flee the country that get their bail instantly rejected.

But it'd be interesting to see if conspiracy to murder (or murder all together), terrorism, harassment and intimidation, gang crimes, and tax evasion charges also get established. I reckon now that they have in him jail, they'll take their time and get down to proper investigation in all other inquiries.

Re: Altaf hussain arrested | Bail Rejected

anyone arrested has to be produced before a magistrate within 48 hours or be released. Police can ask for a further 48 hours if they want further interrogation to be done, which is usually granted. after that the person has to be either charged or released. If charged he is than produced before the judge and the charges read to them. The court also than decides when the case will be heard and whether the person will be granted bail.

Back? MQM has always been a spineless, gutless party of opportunistic, immoral and outright criminal wretches. Every inch of that organisation is covered with the blood of its countless innocent victims.

The way MQM terrorists have set a Pakistani City ablaze because their soapbox orator and a God sent demagogue got arrested in London, the party has lost all hope and chance to convince the common man that have an ounce of goodness left in them. I dare these terrorists to go and just attempt breaking the windows of a randomly parked car on the streets of London. I dare these terrorist to take Canary Warf as hostage and block Central London.

Alas! What these terrorists don't realise is that their violent activities are being noted by British Home Office, and that in effect has already damaged Altaf's chances of expecting any mercy authorities. After all, it was that drunkard's speech to slain the innocent protesters and a consequent murder of an innocent political activist that finally got the attention of UK's anti- terrorism department.

Sadly, only in uncivilised countries, ideological differences are more criminalised than criminal activities.

Re: Altaf hussain arrested | Bail Rejected

Now I can see why most people in Karachi trust MQM and MQM gets so many votes from cities of Sindh. It is discrimination (Tasub) and biases that MQM voters clearly see that people from all around in Pakistan and on many forums have.

Just imagine comments … Altaf is not Pakistani, he is British and facing British laws, so why arrest of Altaf means protest in Karachi? If Altaf is suspected of money laundry than he should be punished and there should be no protest in Pakistan. For some, all these comments are fare comments and nothing to do with tasub (discrimination) … but are such comments valid and people making such comments are not guilty of tasub?

Well … same people, mostly of PTI, JI, JUI, PMLN, but others too, who are making above comments … they ignore that a Pakistani who takes British nationality do not lose Pakistani Nationality, hence Altaf is as much a Pakistani as any Pakistani. Nawaz’s son is also British, so are Imran’s sons. As far as I know, Bilawal Bhutto and his sisters are British too … but for people supporting these parties, they would never make issue out of that … but would be most vocal when talking about Altaf and even Tahir-ul-Qadri.

Now, let us talk about American nationality. Unlike acquiring British Nationality where it is not required to renounce Pakistani nationality or allegiance with Pakistan, when acquiring American Nationality a person has to renounce Pakistan nationality and allegiance with Pakistan (as American oath requirement). So, Pakistani acquiring American nationality stops being Pakistani, whereas Pakistani acquiring British and Canadian nationality do not. Stull, same people (especially PTI, PMLN and others) who make so much fuss about Altaf Nationality, make protest for Aafia and call her Pakistani, when she is American … so why not they make same comment that, if she has done crime and America is punishing her (own citizen) than what is wrong with that … and that, what her punishment in USA is concerned for Pakistanis?.

Some are making comments that MQM is harming Pakistan and such protest should not be allowed, but may have themselves supported ‘Iftikhar chaudhry bhangra on road to get him reinstated’, not once but twice … once in 2007 and other in 2009. Why then these people were not worried about all those destruction PMLN, PTI and JI protests in 2009 made in Punjab that harmed Pakistan economy a lot … and obviously all those 2007 ‘monkey dance and bhangra on road’ that also harmed Pakistan economy and also resulted in getting reinstated a corrupt judge? How about destroying Pakistan when blasphemous cartoon came out in west … and some considering that as valid reason?

As for money laundry case against Altaf, I do not know if there is truth in it or not, but one thing is certain fact, and that is, Zardari, Nawaz and many other politicians have transferred millions of pounds illegally to UK, so what is the secret that those who did money laundry of millions (in Zardari and Nawaz it is billions) and their assets in UK are also known (registered in their own names) that anyone can verify, are never booked for that illegal money transfer, but few hundred thousand pounds found at home of Altaf Hussain means investigation, arrest, and cases?

All that shows clear discrimination in UK action, and it gives indication (or suspicion) that it is possible someone from Pakistani political circle or their British lobbies that pushed UK into this.

As for British law enforcement authorities, it is true that most of the time they work without pressure, but they are neither Angels nor necessarily unbiased. They also work with some understanding of British government, especially when it comes to dealing with political forces of foreign countries, as then, these law enforcement agencies do not act unduly without nudge from government.
