Why proper curfew wasn’t imposed in Karachi. I’m inclined to believe that PMLN had more than just an idea that this was coming, and I think they should’ve planned and prepared an extensive response to the situation. Army should’ve been deployed for the cool off period, and only in designated areas people should’ve been allowed to gather and register their protest. The whole practice of shutting down City is totally unacceptable. It’s wholly criminal.
What future holds for MQM? MQM will re-group, eventually, in matter of time, **but will they make concious effort to break away from Altaf’s legacy, publicly denounce him and his ways, apologise to the nation and promise a fresh start **doesn’t look like a nearing possibility. Maybe in few years time, but I don’t see that happening as an immediate step.

Security services should have been ready to move at a moment notice considering the volatile environment. It’s still not late if any further property damage can be prevented, and all perps arrested for domestic terrorism. In fact that should be done all across the country.
