That’s what I like about MQM. No other party or its leader has come out so strongly as MQM against hypocrisy of some of our clerics.
MQM’s condemnation of khariji terrorism is not like that of Imran. It is filled with passion.

We can hate Altaf all we want but the guy truly is against religious terrorism.

**KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Thursday gave 24 hours ultimatum to all top muftis and ulema (clerics) of the country to openly denounce the cowardly attack on young Pakistani children’s rights activist Malala Yousafzai or else he will ‘expose’ them, DawnNews reported.

In a statement, issued by the party, Hussain vowed to expose all clerics, who will fail to condemn the attack by banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in his scheduled speech at the party’s workers convention on Sunday.
The MQM chief had declared the attack on Malala as an attack on all humanity and said that perpetrators of the vile act should be swiftly brought to justice.

Malala along with two other schoolmates sustained bullet injuries when armed assailants opened fire on their school van in Mingora city, Swat on Tuesday.

The TTP had taken responsibility for attacking the national peace award winner on the same day.
The Taliban, who have killed thousands of people across Pakistan in the last five years and destroyed hundreds of girls’ schools, have issued a statement saying that any female who opposes them should be killed.

I expected to read that Altaf Hussain issued a 24 hours ultimatum…either you do as I say or I will have you killed but NO instead he will “EXPOSE” them…what does that mean?

If Altaf Hussain cares so much about the deaths of innocent people then I would expect him to eliminate his death squads operating in Karachi and bring peace to that city instead of indulging in publicity stunts. If he cannot control his own little patch then he should avoid discussing national issues.

I am saying that anyone who openly and clearly goes against Taliban or religious extremism is not safe in Pakistan. And you were ridiculing him for being in Britain.

I say hats off to MQM for trying to expose religious extremists.

MQM's Ultaf did not threaten the Taliban ... He has threatened the poor ulema of the country ... They don't have their own thugs ... He has ... Why didn't he level that same threat at people his own size ... Like the other political parties? If he is a man then get him to send his street army and sort the Taliban out themselves ... Why do you think that this call will result in sympathy of people? It is a known fact that majority of Pakistanis are closer to Talibanic ideology and despise anything against religious clerics. MQM does it because it really believes in it.

And calling MQM terrorist is half-truth.

if secular means accommodating all the faiths, then yes we karachiites are secular people. We condemn everything against a particular sect. Having said that we don’t need likes of Altaf to represent our secular or non-secular views to gain a political mileage.

I dont think that this is secularism nor did Altaf practice this way ever.
But few things go unnoticed or left ambiguous this way. PPP, PML, PTI and other parties and thier followers dont lable themeself with secularism, does that mean they dont accommodate all the faiths?

Exactly. Altaf Hussain had a rally for Aafiya calling her daughter of the nation? Where is the follow-up by MQM of that issue, if they were so sincere with daughter of nation? If the matter is to just playing with words, then I would opt for Umera Ahmed rather than Altaf Hussain :)

Deaths squads means target killings, having people in charge of each sector, killing of Imran Farooq, collecting extortion money from businesses, getting free publicity from media houses based in Karachi through fear and intimidation.

altaf hussain is a brave person ,his partymen are educated,middle lower class secular muslims who believe in democracy . they are simply hated by gundas ,because gundas have recieved their due in the same coin , which no other section of society dared to pay. mqm paid them hard beating in the same way which they understood well .minorities of pakistan will be safe in mqm's rule.
