That’s what I like about MQM. No other party or its leader has come out so strongly as MQM against hypocrisy of some of our clerics.
MQM’s condemnation of khariji terrorism is not like that of Imran. It is filled with passion.

We can hate Altaf all we want but the guy truly is against religious terrorism.

**KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Thursday gave 24 hours ultimatum to all top muftis and ulema (clerics) of the country to openly denounce the cowardly attack on young Pakistani children’s rights activist Malala Yousafzai or else he will ‘expose’ them, DawnNews reported.

In a statement, issued by the party, Hussain vowed to expose all clerics, who will fail to condemn the attack by banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in his scheduled speech at the party’s workers convention on Sunday.
The MQM chief had declared the attack on Malala as an attack on all humanity and said that perpetrators of the vile act should be swiftly brought to justice.

Malala along with two other schoolmates sustained bullet injuries when armed assailants opened fire on their school van in Mingora city, Swat on Tuesday.

The TTP had taken responsibility for attacking the national peace award winner on the same day.
The Taliban, who have killed thousands of people across Pakistan in the last five years and destroyed hundreds of girls’ schools, have issued a statement saying that any female who opposes them should be killed.

How can one give a fatwa when terrorist attacks in Pakistan are either done by the Americans or as a result of their policies in Afghanistan (and pakistans support to it)? This is the reason why some don't even give fatwas against suicide bombings.

Hypocrisy results always in disaster. A terrorist wants a Fatwa against terrorism to get sympathy of people. No surprise, there are so many people who enjoy such news and do not even think that how it can bring good? Moreover, can any Mufti accept it by heart?

This is the fallacy created by Taliban apologists like Imran Khan. Terrorism in Pakistan is neither due to America's involvement nor due to Pakistan's support to it.

You are pre judging me and my intentions. Please point to any of my reply in the thread you mentioned here. And if I did not reply there then it is obvious that I do not know of any such thread.

Well I know how much people hate MQM. So mocking ridiculing replies in this thread, like the one above, is not surprising at all.
You guys are obviously missing the point I was making. No matter how much people hate MQM, it is still the party closest to Jinnah’s original vision of liberal secular country.
I support this view. I support any party which espouses this view. Including PPP and ANP. And I oppose any party which is against it. Including PML (both N and Q) and PTI.

Why do you think that this call will result in sympathy of people? It is a known fact that majority of Pakistanis are closer to Talibanic ideology and despise anything against religious clerics. MQM does it because it really believes in it.

This man is comedy ... He gives 24 hours ultimatum to the top muftis to denounce the attack - when something is clear cut does it need to be denounced? And for not doing something that **he wants them to do, **he will in return pull the lungis off the clerics ... that is besharam .... He should respect the clerics not give them ultimatums ... He has denounced it that is good enough ... Sheesh and then some !!!

Well, I do not think it as clear cut as you are making it here.
And I do not think everyone would agree with what MQM does. Rather the point was that MQM's secular credentials are more "clear-cut" than any Taliban apologists like Imran Khan or Nawaz Sharif.

If Altaf bhai had 2 brothers and 4 sons , he would have ruled pak politics.

What altaf says today, rest of the leader will say tomorrow.
He is comedy and at times seems mental, but he does say very good things too and takes stand without fear. give credit where due

MQM has been saying this since day one. But unfortunately most Pakistanis are so pro-Taliban that even after all their acts of terrorism, they still have sympathy for Afghan branch of Taliban.
Look at two popular parties of Pakistan. PMLN, who goes hand in hand with religious terrorists and calls its aim similar to that of Taliban. Or PTI, who mocks, ridicules, talks sh** about everyone and everything except Taliban, whom his considers his brethren.
