All Views Khatam-e-Quran for the month of December 2008

Khatam-e-Quran for December is Alhamdo Lillah initiated.

Last month, the Quran was given to Afshi’s Khala who passed away after a motorcycle accident.

We have some left overs para as well… so please, take them and read them first.

This month’s Quran will be insha Allah given to MehnazQ’s father, Insha Allah.

We encourage all of you to be part of this noble deed, and reply with I want to JOIN for Khatam Quran, if you like to participate.

If you can’t finish it and have some problem finishing para, let moderators know privately (PM AQ, Ume-Zafeerah, Daring V or Iconoclast) or post here. And please take your time reading the Quran, don’t start flying over it. If someone wants to join in, please post and let us know.

Moderators will keep updating this post as we get people joining us as we go along… Insha Allah!

We will finish whatever we can during the month and will carry over the remaining paraas (if any) of the Quran to next month.

Can we just use what we read as our regular tilawat of Quran for this? This is what I do whenever I participate in a khatam of Quran (e.g. if I'm at the 10th juz, I will try to read it during the khatam and then move on to 11 when I continue my regular tilawat again). Also, why is one reading of Quran being done for only one person? I suggest that there should be an ongoing list of names/people and that after every completion, they all be remembered in the dua.

when we are doing khatam-e-Quran, we want to make sure that the whole Quran is read, hence the assignment of paraas. In fact, historically paraas/Juz were created later in time to be able to complete Quran in 30 days… so were 7 manaazil (since the time of Prophet:saw2: ) … sahabaa kiraam used them to finish Quran in seven days…

Yes, we do use that approach but in the event when it is needed, we do Isaal-e-sawaab for a particular person unless one is not a believer in isaal-e-sawaab (there are among muslims I know), there is no compulsion or requirement to be part of it. Of course, we are not forcing anything

How would we know Gina~?

The isaal-e-sawaab thing came in after we did Ramadaan Khatam-e-Quran… I received a request for it … and I continued… I do not see anything wrong in that…
