All views & Cafe posts look similar now ,just the audience being slightly different.
GS could merge the two sections or make an apparent distinction .

I am not contemplating whether to merge All Views with Cafe :D That ain't happening. Besides, I thought LP was being sarcastic?
I am asking the regular posters of AV if they like the current atmosphere in the forum where there isn't as much "policing" as before or do they prefer that we do not allow any non-serious threads at all?

No,I wasn't being sarcastic BBQ.I seriously see a no of threads with a Cafe' pattern to it as well as a few 'non cafe'' threads with cafe' kind of posts.
Its not just 1-2 threads I was referring to.Over the last month many cafe' kind of threads have popped up.

I see what LP is saying that AV is not as serious as it used to be but I like that about AV now. Its definitely not like cafe though.

^ Okay but merging the two forums still isn't an option. I'm pretty sure Azkar bhai wouldn't approve of the idea.
Give us other suggestions as to what we can do about the issue at hand. Move any non-serious threads to Cafe and keep AV a forum for serious discussions only? What defines a Cafe thread anyway? If you were to go back 3, 4, 5, years, you will see that AV has always allowed light hearted threads. We do not want to be so strict and uptight in AV that we scare everyone away yet we do not want valuable posters like you to be put off by the non-serious threads.
I thought we had it balanced quite well. Threads on Kony, Sir Edhi etc are running simultaneously with threads like "dear guppy" and Kasauti, the way it always has been in AV as far as I can remember. If other AV posters think the forum is taking the wrong turn, we will honour their request to "fix" AV for sure.

open a new subforum for cafe…for adults…as has been suggest countless times before…
the fact that you guys refuse to acknowledge that cafe has become a very limited area…and with a very characterisitic posting behaviour… its NOT for general users anymore..
so they do tend to open cafe’ish threads in AV…an escape of sorts..
now the sooner you realise that…quicker will be teh solution…but i doubt it

Nomica,cafe’ is for everyone.But,as philo pointed out above ,tht’s the general perception now.The kind of threads & the replies depend on the posters posting.If the same Intellectual,Witty & Mature posters post in cafe’ im sure the environment in cafe’ will change.I don’t think a sub-forum is required.In my opinion,what is required is changing the general preception ,that the less intelligent,less witty & immature members post in cafe’.

if it was possible to post in cafe.......people would have....

Two completely separate issues. Before anyone quotes you and the discussion heads off topic, let's not discuss the "corner room " proposal and let's not drain our energies determining the characteristics of Cafe posters. Let's stick to what you guys do and do not want to see in All Views.

LP, you do realise that’s just 7 threads out of the 35 threads on the first page, right? That’s like 20% of AV threads being non-serious threads. So I wouldn’t agree that AV has been so much flooded that it needs to be merged with Cafe now.
Anyway, three of the highlighted threads should have been opened in Cafe for sure. Two weren’t moved because a little note was left for the mods saying not to move the thread so we left it at that thinking it isn’t going to do anyone any harm. That will change now. The third thread I just saw now. Two of these threads have been moved to Cafe. The third, along with the rest of the highlighted threads, has surpassed the number of posts before which we can move threads from a forum as per the policy guidelines. So they aren’t going to be moved. And I cannot guarantee if in the future all such threads will be deleted from All Views because, if you notice, one of the threads was opened by TLK bhai and two were opened by an AV mod. So looks like the team also feels such threads should be allowed in AV. Having moved the two threads to Cafe, we’re now down to 15% of the threads being non serious. 85% of the threads are still serious, intellectual, discussion-based threads. Like I said, we are willing to change that to 100% if people want us to.
Waisay Nomi, there is nothing adult/mature about the threads LP has highlighted otherwise she probably wouldn’t have voiced this concern to begin with. VIG would be the next best thing to Cafe for posters who feel too mature and too good for Cafe. And no, not everyone gets access to VIG but if everyone got the special privilege, it wouldn’t be so special, would it? The rest of the “adults” should feel free to create the sort of threads they want to see in Cafe but like I said that’s a different topic. So tell me what do you NOT want to see in AV.
