too many cafeites spreading to other forums. we need a better buffering and quarantining system. anyone with an average of over 40 posts a day in cafe must be only allowed 3 posts elsewhere in a single 24 hour period. else this cancer will spread further beyond just all views.

Two completely separate issues. Before anyone quotes you and the discussion heads off topic, let's not discuss the "corner room " proposal and let's not drain our energies determining the characteristics of Cafe posters. Let's stick to what you guys do and do not want to see in All Views.

Waisay Nomi, there is nothing adult/mature about the threads LP has highlighted otherwise she probably wouldn't have voiced this concern to begin with. VIG would be the next best thing to Cafe for posters who feel too mature and too good for Cafe. And no, not everyone gets access to VIG but if everyone got the special privilege, it wouldn't be so special, would it? The rest of the "adults" should feel free to create the sort of threads they want to see in Cafe but like I said that's a different topic. So tell me what do you NOT want to see in AV.

7 out of 35 is a lot for a section.I simply pointed out the threads & not the cafe’ish posts around AV.
The distinction between Cafe’ & AV is less visible now.
We wouldn’t discuss shakespeare’s literature in a science class.What needs to be done is to redirect the cafe’ness to cafe’ & remove the perception that it’s just a place for a bunch of immature ppl.
Ofcourse,this should start from the “Higher ups”.If the mods & the director would have opened the cafe’ish threads in cafe’,the traffic would have followed them to cafe’.

LP, you do realise that’s just 7 threads out of the 35 threads on the first page, right? That’s like 20% of AV threads being non-serious threads. So I wouldn’t agree that AV has been so much flooded that it needs to be merged with Cafe now.

Anyway, three of the highlighted threads should have been opened in Cafe for sure. Two weren’t moved because a little note was left for the mods saying not to move the thread so we left it at that thinking it isn’t going to do anyone any harm. That will change now. The third thread I just saw now. Two of these threads have been moved to Cafe. The third, along with the rest of the highlighted threads, has surpassed the number of posts before which we can move threads from a forum as per the policy guidelines. So they aren’t going to be moved. And I cannot guarantee if in the future all such threads will be deleted from All Views because, if you notice, one of the threads was opened by TLK bhai and two were opened by an AV mod. So looks like the team also feels such threads should be allowed in AV. Having moved the two threads to Cafe, we’re now down to 15% of the threads being non serious. 85% of the threads are still serious, intellectual, discussion-based threads. Like I said, we are willing to change that to 100% if people want us to.

People go with the flow Nomica.All the “fraanship’s” & “sammiches” are examples of this.
So,if others post in cafe’,I’m sure with time,cafe’ will turn into what the other’s like to see.Its the members along with the guidance & policies of the mods who give shape to a section.
Moreover,Just a handful of cafe’ties shoudn’t intimidate other members.
BTW you could have voiced the “me ko u ko” & the “smiley” concern to Shak when he had asked about the changes needed in cafe’.Instead of shunning the section,you could bring a change to it yourself.

Jee nahin the topic is about AV and what should and shouldn't be allowed in AV. Apko cafe ka analysis karna hai tau ek or feedback thread kholiye or dil bhar k feedback dejiye and don't forget to invite the "vast majority of posters" to the thread. Khas tor pe is tanziya andaaz mein to mujhe apse kuch bhi discuss nahin karna.

Yeah but AV isn't a specific forum for a specific subject, is it? That's why it's called All Views. It is a general forum.

Can you guarantee that? That if we keep moving someone's threads to Cafe that they will actually start posting in Cafe? I highly doubt it. But anyway that isn't going to stop us from filtering such threads from AV. Thanks for your feedback, LP. We will try to keep the percentage of non-serious threads to 10%. Does that sound good to you? I don't see any other regular posters of AV disagreeing with how it's being run at the moment otherwise I would've agreed to completely eliminating any light heartedness from AV.
