There are always those who take it upon themselves to defend God, as if Ultimate Reality, as if the sustaining frame of existence, were something weak and helpless. These people walk by a widow deformed by leprosy begging for a few paise, walk by children dressed in rags living in the street, and they think, “Business as usual”. But if they perceive a slight against God, it is a different story. Their faces go red, their chests heave mightily, they sputter angry words. The degree of their indignation is astonishing. Their resolve is frightening.
These people fail to realize that it is on the inside that God must be defended, not on the outside. They should direct their anger at themselves. For evil in the open is but evil from within that has been let out. The main battlefield for good is not the open ground of the public arena but the small clearing of each heart. Meanwhile, the lot of widows and homeless children is very hard, and it is to their defense, not God’s, that the self-righteous should rush.
Re: All religious people should stick this up on their walls
thats a very sad and very true observation. the religious extremes are often like this...not only Muslims but christians and jews too. theres one mullah type here on GS who was thrilled with himself for getting reaction of people who saw him in a mall, he'd go there in all his religious clothing, dressed like an OBL wannabe and get his thrills with the looks he'd get. sad ...
then there are Muslims like a couple i call "the peaceful people". they love everyone and spread serenity and peace to everyone they meet regardless of their ethnic or religious background. Being around them, even for a short time, makes me want to become Muslim.
Re: All religious people should stick this up on their walls
A "religious" person would never walk by an orphan with the term "business as usual" .... perhaps thats where people are mistaken...
But I like the words. Perhaps people forget the real issues , and I think their real fault is in the fact that they think God needs defending to start with...
Re: All religious people should stick this up on their walls
Any person, sane enough to know his name would also know never to insult somebody’s object of adoration…And if somebody does it, that means he’s sick in the head and must be removed by force from society and hurting others…
Muslims never do it…Why don’t you scour the internet and look into any Muslim site and see if see a insult directed at any other religion…
Now…Would you like me to paste stuff from various different religions regarding Islam?
Why are you teaching Mullahs not to be aggravated? Mullahs are ignorant, little educated, hating, conniving little biatches, so it’s a good thing to keep believing what the media tells you…Abstract construct and self made opinions are a no-no in the western world today…Today’s enemy is the bearded, Muslim guy…You think CNN and FOX would lie? Shame on you…Only Mullahs lie…
This Martels’s quote would be best suited for non-Muslims…
Re: All religious people should stick this up on their walls
Do you really believe this? What is it in your love for Islam that makes you so blind to how it is currently practiced by many Muslims? Some Muslims societies will kill you for converting to another religion. Convenient for you to not count that as “an insult directed at any other religion”.
Not only is the internet loaded with pages of hate for non-Muslims, there are plenty of threads right here on gupshup dedicated to it. Check out some current threads in Religion forum that ridicule Christian and Hindu beliefs.

I am the most gorgeous man on the planet…Now that I wrote it, you must believe it, without looking at me or my picture…
I once saw a picture of Madhanee on GupShup, naked and sunning himself in the middle of Queens blvd…
I just don’t have a picture, but you should believe me, I saw it…

Good advice, you might want to take you own pill…

Hey, I am not the one killing thousands each month and then calling it freedom and liberation…Let ‘educated’ people like yourself believe that…All I see is a massacre of innocent men, women and children in Iraq and Afghanistan…
This will not be forgotten so easily by any Muslim alive…Not Rome, not Egypt, not Greeks and not even the Muslims remianed on top forever…
Your ‘education’ might tell you that you will forever remian invincible…You will not…
