Re: all married girls (name question)

so far I am carrying my dad's name as surname ... in the near future it will be My name - fathers name - husbands name .... so my dad's name will become my maiden name ...

Re: all married girls (name question)

i did change my name...took husbands first name as is done in Pakistan....
now i do know that girls shd keep their fathers name. that is correct according to islam.

Re: all married girls (name question)

didn't change it, no intentions to change it either..I will always keep my dad's surname as my last name out of my love and respect for everything that he has done for us girls and our kids will carry my husband's surname as their last name..thats what Islam says and IMO thats how it should be :-)

Re: all married girls (name question)

yes Xeno , like bilawal blah blah :emmy: … you couldnt give me a better example could you :smilestar:

Re: all married girls (name question)

you said all that i was gonna say! so ditto :)

Re: all married girls (name question)

for my sis people said usa law allows u to carry your dad name even after marrige but some people said this that she should change her name otherwise marrige will look fake and embassy thinks that she didnt change her name as most pakistani girls do and it will look suspicious

cb
will this sounds like bollywood where hrthik wife changed her name like this
suzane khan roshan…

if people will not know your father and husband name..and for exampe your dad name is xyx and husband name is abc

and u put your name as cb xyz abc

they would think may b your dad full name is xyz abc
or your husband full name is xyz abc :bummer:

Re: all married girls (name question)

I changed my last name to my husband’s last name right before my first child was born…my thing was that I wanted all of us to have the same last names :hehe:

Re: all married girls (name question)

My sister never changed last name even after marriage. **
**Aur now I feel changing last name is not like I want my name like my kids but it gives a MAn sense of achieving me like a property before she belongs to her faher and after husband's property:D I don't like to change my last name again:)

Re: all married girls (name question)

changing last name may be ok, but not really good for the woman in case they get divorced..what with going through all the hassle of going through all the legal matters to change yr last name again
a man or woman should be known as a son/daughter of xxx. only name that will stay with you all yr life is yr fathers, husbands can change

I didn t change my last name also.

Re: all married girls (name question)

I am not planning on it. Nothing goes better with my first name than my last name. Plus I don't like his last name. There is no way I am taking his first name.

Re: all married girls (name question)

While we ARE on this topic, how do you ladies feel about him taking your last name? Don't look at it from religion's perspective, just your opinion on it.

When him and I were talking about it, I had ambiguous feelings towards him taking my last name. I liked that he was considering it, because the norm is to have it the other way round. But his name all of a sudden sounded like my siblings'. I didn't like that.

Re: all married girls (name question)

I didn’t change my last name only because it looked like a hassel, ID card, passport, degrees.. since we both are lazy with paper work kind of thingies I just kept my maiden name. Unofficially though I write his name as my last name, it just feels lovely
